About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Building Systems Technician III to join our dynamic Enterprise Facilities team.
The Enterprise Facilities team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by managing and maintaining the physical infrastructure and facilities of Canadian Blood Services.
Formula for success
- Leveraging your experience, you will provide operation and maintenance of all systems and equipment associated with heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems and all water treatment systems.
- Harnessing your skills, you will perform inspections, testing, verification, and maintenance all life safety equipment operation.
- Capitalizing on your capabilities, you will perform generalized departmental support functions and maintenance of buildings and grounds as required.
- Utilizing your sense of urgency, you will carry out after hours emergency response on-call duties on a rotational basis or as required by schedules.
- Leveraging your leadership skills, you will act as contracting manager: supervise contractors and ensure contract specifications are being met according to Canadian Blood Services regulatory requirements.
- Applying your knowledge, you will complete all required documentation related to work accurately and in a timely manner.
Desired education and skills
- Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably in Heating & Cooling or Electrical systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Building Environmental Systems Operator Class I and Class II Certificate or Systems Maintenance Technician or comparable.
- Six months of experience operating and/or monitoring building automation systems and a well-rounded understanding of Emergency Power Systems (production and life safety diesel generators).
- Must have valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Excellent MS Office skills and a good working knowledge of other computer applications and the ability to transfer technical knowledge to others.
- Knowledge and use of card access systems for security purposes.

- Must be able to work on site at our Brampton location.
- Required to be on-call on a rotational basis.
- This role involves a physical aspect, requiring the capacity to lift weights of up to 50 lbs, as well as the ability to bend, reach high places, and perform lifting tasks.
