About the role
Canadian Blood Services (CBS) is looking for a Regular Full-Time Manager, Demand Planning to join our dynamic Supply Chain Division. In this role you will be responsible for developing the national demand forecasts for Canadian Blood Services’ products. As such, you are accountable for the planning accuracy of the products in their domain. Additionally, you are responsible for allocating the national demand forecasts to each of Canadian Blood Services’ regions and you will have a key role in contributing to the Integrated Business Planning Process (IBP) through the development of national and regional demand forecasts.
You will be responsible for closely collaborating with Operations Planning (in Supply Chain Management) as well as Utilization Management (in Medical Affairs and Innovation) to gather customer intelligence input. Additionally, you will be responsible for analyzing historical trends and ensuring the incorporation of relevant information in the creation of demand plans. You will also be responsible for reviewing and iterating the national and regional demand plans and are responsible for communicating any changes in the demand plan or recruitment targets to relevant stakeholders.
Formula for Success
- Using your demand forecasting expertise, develop national demand forecasts for products and allocate the national demand forecasts to each of Canadian Blood Services’ regions to be used as inputs into the Integrated Business Planning Process (IBP). Review forecasted plan and identify trends and expectations. Identify and mitigates risks, and escalate any identified issues and recommendations.
- Using your technical skills, model complex business problems and discover business insights through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques.
- Leveraging your relationship management skills, liaise with Distribution, Research & Development, Medical Affairs and Corporate Strategy to understand historical data, statistical forecasts and market intelligence. Collaborate with customer facing teams to understand demand projections and assumptions/evidence as required while ensure that all internal Canadian Blood Services’ stakeholders are engaged in the identification and resolution of major issues affecting demand planning and operations pertaining to assigned products.
- Drawing on your superior reporting skills, establish and monitor key metrics. Develop new metrics as needed and collaborate with other senior leaders to drive improvements in Canadian Blood Services Planning metrics while ensuring that issues which could impact demand are documented, shared and accounted for as needed.
Desired Education and Skills
- A university degree in Business Administration or related field. Masters or PhD education in economics, engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science or related field with requisite complementary business and management experience would be a strong asset.
- Must possess a combination of business focus, communication and presentation skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and programming knowledge.
- Advanced knowledge and practical experience with database management, statistical programming, and analysis with demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
- Advanced skill with development and presentation of streamlined data visualizations expressing complex technical analysis in a user-friendly manner (experience with PowerBI, Tableau, etc.).
Strong programming skills and statistical modeling (such as experience with Power BI, SAP IBP, SAS, Azure Synapse or SQLServer Data Warehouse, Azure Data Lake, Python, R, SAS).
Experience/proficiency with machine learning, the latest data and analytics techniques, multivariate testing and optimization. - Related, progressive management experience at a senior level in operations (5 years).
- Related hands-on experience with statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods (3-5 years).
- Knowledge of operational models and operational efficiency improvement methodologies.
