Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Quality Control Associate to join our dynamic Quality Assurance team. 

 

The Quality Control Associate (QCA), Quality Control (QC), under the direction of the Quality
Control Manager (QCM), QC supports the implementation and monitoring of the performance and activities of the Corporate QC Program. This program is used to fulfil regulatory requirements related to the manufacturing and testing of blood and blood components.

This position ensures, by means of sound application or Risk Management principles, the safety, efficacy and quality of all blood products, blood components and services offered by Canadian Blood Services through full compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and all other applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.
The QCA, QC, ensures that the Corporate QC Program supports the requirements and standards for quality control in the manufacturing process. The QCA ensures that Canadian Blood Service sites have Operating Procedures necessary to perform inspection, blood component testing, results evaluation and reporting. Leverages the Quality Event Management program when required for product or process deviations. Acts as a QC resource for the organization and as a designate for the QCM in his/her absence.

Formula for success

 

  • Leveraging your excellent skills in a regulatory environment, you will develop, establish and maintain Canadian Blood Services' Corporate QC program and the Quality Control Component Testing database ensuring that the component QC program meets regulatory requirements, and all elements of the QC processes are consistent and controlled. 
  • Drawing on your knowledge of investigation and inspection processes, you will develop and maintain the QC operating procedures for the inspection and release of incoming materials and supplies.
  • You will design, implement and manage the National Proficiency Testing Program.
  • You will assist the Quality Control Manager and the organization to monitor and improve the quality of its products by collecting and analyzing data to evaluate/demonstrate process control in manufacturing.
  • Utilizing your interpersonal and communication skills, you will provide ongoing guidance and support to site/functional staff in the application oof the Corporate Quality Control Program in daily operations, QC and Corporate initiatives.
     

Desired education and skills

 

  • Completion of post-secondary degree in a related discipline from a recognized academic institution.
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years' experience within a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment following Good Manufacturing Practices with at least 5 years of Quality Management/Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Technical skills including the knowledge of statistical software applications such as Minitab, JMP, Statgrahpics, etc.  
  • Advance knowledge of Excel. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Quality Management System elements is required.
  • Comprehensive analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills are required.

What you can expect

 

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2 days of the week.  Prefered location would be Brampton, ON or Ottawa ON.
  • Shift/hours - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week/7.5 hours a day.
  • Travel requirements - travel will be required for onsite visits or occasonial meetings and training needs.
