About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full-Time Planner – Integrated Supply Chain for a project based role focused on developing capacity planning scenarios across our national supply chain network. 

 

The Integrated Supply Chain Planning Team strives to improve Canadian Blood Services’ approach to supply planning and inventory management across the supply chain, through the implementation of best practices, policies, programs, tools, and systems. This group functions as the central coordination team for ensuring that our products supply is balanced with expected demand and that supply and inventory impacts are considered, understood, and mitigated in alignment with organizational expectations for projects and programs that may impact supply.

This role will perform the same core integrated supply chain planning activities, but with a primary focus on a defined project to create, assess, and model capacity planning scenarios across the network. The outcomes of this work will support decision-making related to current and future-state supply chain capacity, constraints, and trade-offs. 

In this role, you will be applying planning principles to a project environment rather than ongoing operational execution. You will leverage demand scenarios, historical performance, and operational assumptions to build scenarios that evaluate network capacity under various conditions. 

Formula for success

 

  • Leveraging your excellent analytical skills, you will monitor and analyze data from a wide variety of inputs.
  • Drawing on your proficiency in statistics, data-processing, forecasting, you will produce and communicate planning scenarios. 
  • Utilizing your exceptional collaboration, facilitation and influencing skills you will facilitate meeting/discussions with key stakeholders.  
  • Using your continuous improvement mindset you will identify and track changes.  
  • You will recognize and comprehend organizational "hot spots" and focus diverse groups on common organizational outcomes. 
  • Channeling your experience in planning, you will gather, analyze, and validate data related to the supply plan. 
     

Desired education and skills

 

  • Completion of post-secondary education, a university degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.  Degree in Supply Chain Operations, Planning, Finance, Project Management or Continuous Improvement is an asset.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in Supply Chain operations.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in a non-for-profit environment an asset.
  • Demonstrated, analytical, organizational, decision making and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, influencing and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, data-processing, and forecasting (using MS Excel), with an understanding of the financial and operational impacts.
  • Experience in continuous improvement methodologies and/or Project Management is an asset.
  • Demonstrated management and administrative skills, with knowledge of and experience in Management (theory and practice).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • SAP competency/experience in specific analytical tool implementation would be beneficial.

What you can expect

 

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/ 2 days of the week.
  • Shift/hours - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week, 7.5 hours a day.
  • Travel requirements – some travel may be required for continuous improvement exercises, team meetings and conferences. Travel will be within Canada.
