About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for Temporary Full-Time Assistant - Supply Services to join our dynamic Supply Chain Operations West team.

 

 

The Supply Chain Operations West team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by providing technical assistance and maintaining the laboratory, all laboratory equipment and test instruments and helping provide supplies and services from collection to distribution of blood and blood products to hospitals as life-saving treatment for Canadians. In this role, you will be assisting with the procurement of materials and supplies for the Edmonton, Calgary & Regina Centres. Coverage for the other Centres will occasionally be required.

 

Formula for success

 

  • Utilizing your expertise in technical systems and softwares, you will perform SAP requirements to facilitate warehouse inventory management
  • Drawing on your experience in inventory and logistics, you will coordinate the procurement of materials and services, process purchase requisitions, as well as inventory in FIFO/FEFO manner
  • You will also provide general and administrative support to Logistics to include:
    • tracking expenditures and verifying budget transactions
    • compiles transportation data for reporting purposes
    • complete purchasing expenses and fuel reports 
    • prepare department staff schedules

 

Desired education and skills

 

  • High school diploma
  • Post-secondary education in Materials Management from an accredited community college or academic institution would be an asset
  • A minimum of two years of related working experience within a Logistics environment. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered. 
  • Excellent computer skills 
  • Experience with SAP is mandatory
  • Strong data entry skills and analytical thinking
  • Strong experience with Excel is mandatory
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding payroll and scheduling within a Union environment 
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with departmental staff and management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain a FIFO/FEFO inventory system.
  • Accurate keyboard and computer skills. 
  • Attention to detail is essential
  • Physically capable of lifting/carrying and moving heavy equipment and supplies
  • Performs tasks and other duties as required

  • Shifts/hours will vary. You must be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts which are based on operational needs. Shifts include days, evenings, overnights, weekends and statutory holidays.
