Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About this role:
 
Canadian Blood Services (CBS) is looking for a Regular Full time, Associate Director, Enterprise Facility Strategy and Capital Planning to join our dynamic Strategic Facilities Management and Business Integration team. 
 

The Associate Director, Enterprise Facility Strategic and Capital Planning is responsible for implementing the Enterprise Facility Asset Strategic plan through the development of the enterprise facility portfolio and capital plan. This position is responsible for CBS Physical Infrastructure capital and master planning; capital planning support; business case and planning development; strategic planning alignment across CBS divisions and strategies and liaising with external stakeholders. Primary partnerships are with Associate Directors, Directors, Chief Operating Officers as well as private sector partners and government agencies.
 

In addition, the incumbent ensures the effective management of all staff and external consultants including those at the management level, in conjunction and conformance with organizational purposes and objectives of Corporate and Financial Services. The position also plays a major role in fostering excellent inter-departmental and intra-divisional relationships at a national level and with external stakeholders.

 
Formula for Success: 

 

  • Utilizing your strategic planning skills, develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the organization’s physical assets and infrastructure aligned with CBS's strategic, business and financial objectives with a focus on better service for donors, climate resilience, environmental performance and sustainability.
  • Leveraging your leadership skills, manage and develop staff, fostering employee engagement, clearly communicating responsibilities, and coordinating training for new technology or equipment.
  • Using your organization skills, align roles and activities to overall department roles and activities including capital program execution, real estate strategy, leasing, standards development, property management strategy, planning and accommodation management.
  • Drawing on your planning skills, establish a systematic approach to capital planning and asset prioritization. This includes developing a capital plan, managing capital planning processes, undertaking risk assessments, leading facility capital development programs, and ensuring integration of all capital investments with Facility Operations.
  • Harnessing your analytical skills, manage capital investment programs, oversee planning steps, develop capital forecasts and risk assessments, and coordinate with business continuity and risk management for integrated planning.
  • Using your collaborative skills, work closely with corporate management on deliverables and initiatives related to major projects and ensure that reporting requirements are consistently met. 

 
Desired Education and Skills: 
 

  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution. University level education and professional designation in Business Strategy, Architecture, Strategic Planning or another relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in facility planning and development in a complex government or highly regulated environment, preferably a biologics manufacturer or other regulated manufacturer.
  • MBA, Project Management certification Real Estate experience are considered assets
  • An in-depth knowledge of facility asset planning and alignment to CSR and Environmental Sustainability.
  • Experience in a regulated industry with GMP is a asset.
  • In depth knowledge and experience in program and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change and provide leadership while ensuring optimal client service.
  • Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills and ability to influence people.

  • Travel requirement – once a month for 3-4 days at a time.
