In this role, you will act as a champion of the equipment services program by providing technical support in various aspects of biomedical engineering. You will be responsible on an ongoing basis for installations, validations, maintenance, and repairs of equipment on site and all serviced sub sites. The work of the Biomedical Technician is integral to Canadian Blood Services role as Canada’s Lifeline.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the coordination of internal and external resources as necessary to implement the equipment services program
- Proposing program and process improvement recommendations to the direct supervisor
- Maintaining computerized asset management database records and personal training documentation
- Generating documentation ensuring adherence to Canadian Blood Services corporate standards and applicable regulations
- Maintaining a current equipment, parts and instrument inventory in an asset management database
- Performing unscheduled demand maintenance and repairs as directed
Required Skills:
- Post-secondary level education in Engineering Technology, Electronic, Biomedical Electronics Technology or a related field
- Knowledge of biomedical safety and electrical safety codes and their application
- Experience working in the operations of a health-related organization and/or regulated environment
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with individuals on different sites and sub sites
- Knowledge of Lean methodologies, such as lean, or six sigma is an asset
- This position can require periods of sitting, standing and walking. As well as occasionally lifting, pushing and/or pulling up to 50 lbs
