Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-time Manager, Whole Blood Collections Process Management to join our dynamic Process Management team.

The Process Management team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by the delivery of products, processes and services that meet or exceed customers’ expectations in accordance with CBS’ Management System and all legislative and regulatory requirements.

This role serves as the design authority for all processes, standards and procedures that occur within whole blood collection. In this role, you will be responsible for the pursuit of an integrated, well-defined, process-based system as well as required workforce skills/technical training and the implementation of a process management approach which will assist Canadian Blood Services in achieving operational standardization and excellence.

 

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your demonstrated knowledge and expertise, you will design domain specific processes, standards and procedures that occur within Canadian Blood Services’ whole blood collection processes, and ensure that the designed processes are accurate, representative of industry best practices and are both efficient and effective. 
  • Drawing on your excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, you will facilitate the dissemination of better practices across the regions as they relate to whole blood collection processes.  
  • Harnessing your exceptional planning and organizational skills, you will ensure effective ownership of whole blood collection process documentation by ensuring that all improved process documentation is centrally located and have the most up to date documentation.
  • Applying your strong analytical skills, you will build an understanding of process maturity and provide data to drive process improvement priorities.    
    Leveraging your continuous growth mindset, you will facilitate, assist, and promote the identification of continuous process improvement opportunities; prioritize and execute process improvement opportunities to ensure continuous process enhancement.  
  • Focusing on your ability to build relationships with key subject matter experts and influencers, you will closely liaise with the regional collections operations team to ensure efficient and effective implementation of processes and identification of continuous improvement opportunities. Additionally, you will closely liaise with your peers in Process Management to align supply chain strategies.
  • Utilizing your strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, you will assist in monitoring the consistent adherence to the defined processes and where required, identify, resolve and escalate issues of non-adherence. 
  • Using your excellent communication and time management skills, you will ensure that all internal Canadian Blood Services’ stakeholders are informed of major issues affecting process design or execution of processes pertaining to whole blood collection. 

 

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of a university degree in a relevant health care or business-related field. 
  • Proven and progressive experience in the field of manufacturing/process development.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in supervisory/management/leadership role.  
  • Proven and progressive experience in the field of blood collection/manufacturing/process development.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, influencing and negotiation.
  • Proven analytical and decision making skills.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communications.

What you can expect

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2 days of the week.
