The successful candidate will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work at 2775 116 Ave NE, Calgary, Alberta, based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Network Analyst to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure Operations & Delivery team.


The  IT Infrastructure Operations & Delivery team is responsible for managing and maintaining Canadian Blood Services’ IT infrastructure to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of its technology systems.
 

In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery and support of Canadian Blood Services core network services used by internal and external Canadian Blood Services stakeholders to meet the organizations business goals. The key responsibilities include the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and support of the core network services and enterprise networking infrastructure including cabling, switching, routing, firewalls, wireless, WAN, VoIP, and network monitoring.
 

Formula for success

  • Utilizing your skills in monitoring existing systems, you will provide day-to-day support regarding performance issues, network connectivity issues, or voice call issues; troubleshoot incident tickets and manage service requests raised by internal customers pertaining to Canadian Blood Services network and voice services; ensure timely restoration of services to end users, escalating support to more senior technicians as required.
  • Applying your skills in providing intermediate level support of installations, you will handle upgrades of LAN/WAN equipment, and other network infrastructure changes in all locations and data centers, including implementing security procedures and providing documentation (i.e. network diagrams, support documentation, instructional materials) to maintain reliability, stability, and security of core network infrastructure to support the essential business processes of Canadian Blood Services.
  • Leveraging your skills in working with Canadian Blood Services project teams, you will identify requirements, coordinate deployment activities required to meet project requirements, open necessary change ticket records in Canadian Blood Services ITSM system, and ensure tasks are delivered on schedule.
  • Employing your skills in managing engagement and escalations with third-party service providers, you will ensure correct urgency level is assigned to tickets requiring third-party support to ensure timely restoration of services to end users.


Desired education and skills

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field, preferably a University Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
  • An active Cisco certification (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent) is required.
  • Minimum five years of enterprise network implementation and administration experience with Cisco platforms.
  • Intermediate knowledge of networking essentials and experience in a Cisco environment (cabling, TCP/IP, switching, routing, wireless, firewalls, VoIP, monitoring, and protocol analyzers).
  • Experience deploying and supporting Cisco network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless controllers, access points, firewalls, VPN, and security solutions.
  • Experience of network troubleshooting in an enterprise, cloud environments, VoIP and cellular services, or service development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate, excellent problem-solving, and ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team, provide 24/7 on-call support on rotation, and maintain strong organizational skills.

What you can expect 

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2 days of the week. 
  • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.  
  • On call rotation after hours is expected once a month.  
  • Travel requirements - some travel will be required to support sites across the country.
