About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a temporary part-time Trainer to join our dynamic Resources team.
In this role, you will report to the Resource Supervisor-Trainer, Collections Operations West, and will be responsible for supporting Distribution and Logistics training activities within the Edmonton Operations site in accordance with all Canadian Blood Services regulations, standards, and good manufacturing practices.
Formula for success
• Drawing on your knowledge and experience, you will identify and coordinate staff training needs, including initial, change update, competency and recertification requirements.
• Leveraging your organizational skills, you will review staff schedules to ensure that training is scheduled as required, coordinating with other departments as required.
• Applying your attention to detail, you will conduct periodic reviews of training status and GMP issues, support audits and participate in completion of audit regulatory responses on a need basis.
• You foster a quality mindset and act upon learning opportunities to promote our National Quality Policy.
• You value sharing knowledge. You are willing to share expertise and act as a resource to internal partners in the development of standardized programs.
• Using your communication skills, you will recommend changes to established procedures and provide input for revision of training material.
• Drawing on your collaborative skills, you will provide a working environment that fosters professional growth, communication and positive working relationships.
• Embracing a continuous improvement mindset, you will maintain personal professional development.
• Utilizing your administrative skills and ability to manage project pieces, you will assist with the implementation of new projects and processes.
Desired education and skills
• Bachelor of Education or Certificate in Adult Learning from a recognized and accredited post-secondary institution.
• Certified Training Profession (CTP) or similar certificate is an asset or a minimum of 5 years of adult training experience.
• ISTP trainer or equivalent preferred.
• Additional specific designations, licensure, or qualifications may be required.
• Experience in a Production, Distribution, or Logistics environment is an asset
• Experience in a biologics, pharmaceutical, medical devices, or health related environment.
• Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational & time management skills.
• Well-developed classroom delivery and facilitation skills.
• Understanding and application of adult learning principles.
• Flexibility to adapt to different learners and situations.
• Self-directed with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint).
• Must be detail-oriented and capable of working in a highly regulated environment.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

What you can expect
• This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/days of the week. This role is expected to work onsite most days, with the occasional work from home day if tasks allow it.
• Shift/hours – 4 full days (0700-1500 or 0800-1600) or 5 partial days a week. To be discussed.
