About the role

 

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-Time Analyst, Financial Modelling III - TM1 to join our dynamic Finance and Corporate Services team. The work of a Analyst, Financial Modelling III - TM1 is integral to Canadian Blood Services’ role as Canada’s Lifeline. In this role, you will provide senior technical expertise on financial and operational modeling, analysis and reporting services to various groups at Canadian Blood Services. You will lead the architecture and development of reporting, budgeting, or forecasting solutions, enhancements, and support existing solutions within Finance. 

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Based upon Finance Management’s goals and objectives, you will drive solution development to achieve results that are sustainable and repeatable.
  • Use case gathering/analysis, design and functional specification creation, reporting, software and database modelling and solution support. 
  • Serve as a team technical authority on TM1 development. 
  • Leads to conceive technical solution architecture and designs complex projects based on TM1, by applying multi-disciplinary knowledge of systems and components on the market.
  • Leads solution development thorough understanding of Financial Accounting, and Supply Chain business, its high-level processes (Donor Services, Collections, Donor Testing, Logistics, and Production and Distribution) and other Lines of Business (for example Plasma Protein Products (PPP), Stem Cells, Diagnostic Services, and Organs & Tissues).
  • Provides support and guidance to the LOB Financial Analysts or business area users with regards to budgeting, reporting, forecasting, and corporate planning as it relates to TM1.
  • Provides guidance and assistance with regards to the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets, including process for budget preparation, budget compilation, and analysis of budget submission as it relates to TM1.
  • Leads the research & development (R&D) of various solutions and helps to establish solution architecture and standards.
  • Executes the day-to-day TM1 Business Process activities to ensure data integrity, timeliness and stability within the TM1 environment.
  • Provides on-going training and mentoring for the LOB end-users and LOB Analysts with regards to TM1; discussing its advantages, uses, and Business Modules.
  • Plans, develops, and makes presentations and training material for staff involved in TM1 budgeting, forecasting, and planning on the benefits and capabilities of using TM1.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant Computer Science, Information Technology or Accounting discipline is required.
  • Minimum 7 years of proven industry experience with OLAP planning tools (e.g., IBM Cognos, TM1, Hyperion Essbase, Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, SAP Analytics Cloud Planning, etc.) is required.
  • Experience designing complex projects based on TM1, requiring multi-disciplinary knowledge and integrations with systems outside IBM BI product portfolio.
  • Recent and up-to-date experience with IBM Planning Analytics/TM1, particularly with building cubes, designing TM1 server security, TI Processes, Rules, Active Forms, web-based reports, and dashboards is required.
  • Experience building data visualization solutions and executive dashboards is desired.
  • Minimum 5 years of Accounting and IT experience is required. (IT-heavy applicants should have significant exposure to Finance and general business processes; Finance-heavy applicants should have significant exposure to IT systems and processes).
  • An accounting designation (CA, CMA, or CGA) is desired.
  • Knowledge of SAP (or an equivalent ERP application) is desired.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

 

Required skills:

  • Strong analytical skills and an aptitude in relating to operational and financial data.
  • Ability to architect efficient solutions which require multi-disciplinary knowledge and involve coordinating effort with multiple teams within IT, business, and Finance.
  • Expert knowledge of IBM TM1/Planning Analytics and financial solution development.
  • Strong drive for innovation and efficiency applied to building solutions.
  • Strong aptitude in summarizing financial and operational information and highlight salient points in simple terms is required.
  • Ability to present clear and well supported financial and operational analysis at both technical and senior management levels where client-focused thinking is required.
  • Strong understanding of business and financial structures is required.
  • Knowledge of SAP (or an equivalent ERP application) is desired.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to mentor and assist in the supervision of more junior financial modeling analysts and provide technical guidance as a senior member of a team is required.
