About the role 
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a  regular full-time Analyst - Network Services II to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure, Operations and Delivery team.  


The  IT Infrastructure Operations & Delivery team is responsible for managing and maintaining Canadian Blood Services’ IT infrastructure to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of its technology systems.

In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the planning, delivery, and support of Canadian Blood Services core network services used by internal and external CBS stakeholders to meet CBS’ business goals.  The key responsibilities include the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and support of IT network services and enterprise networking infrastructure including switching, routing, firewalls, Wireless, WAN, VoIP, and network monitoring.
 

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your expertise in incident resolution, you will troubleshoot incident tickets raised by internal customers pertaining to Canadian Blood Services network services until resolution, to ensure timely restoration of services to end users.
  • Utilizing your skills in vendor management, you will manage engagement and escalations with third-party service providers with regards to network and voice systems products and services to ensure the correct urgency level is assigned to tickets requiring third-party support, to ensure timely restoration of services to end users.
  • Applying your abilities in project coordination, you will work with Canadian Blood Services project teams requiring network service deliverables to identify requirements, coordinate deployment activities required to meet project requirements, open necessary change ticket records in Canadian Blood Services ITSM system, and ensure tasks are delivered on schedule.
  • Drawing on your knowledge of service management, you will manage network service requests (SRs) initiated by internal customers and fulfill tasks requested, adhering to internally set service level agreements in place regarding completion timelines.
  • Harnessing your attention to detail in auditing, you will complete periodic audits of software license usage as well as determine future forecasts of software license usage requirements to support vendor contract renewal activities.
  • Building on your adaptability and problem-solving skills, you will perform other related duties as required.

 

Desired education and skills

  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a University Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
  • Cisco certification (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent) is required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of directly related experience managing and supporting an enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Experience with LAN, WAN, Wireless, Firewalls, Load-balancers, DNS and with an understanding of Cloud and SDN technology.
  • Experience deploying and supporting network infrastructure platforms and technology covering some or all the following: Cisco AnyConnect VPN, Cisco switches and routers, Cisco Catalyst Center, Cisco UCS, Cisco Meraki, Cisco ACI, Cisco ISE, Cisco ASA, Cisco Thousand Eyes, F5, PRTG.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including establishing collaborative work relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
