About the role
Canadian Blood Services is seeking an Associate Director to join their dynamic IT division. A strategic leadership opportunity reporting to the Director, IT Strategy and Governance, the Associate Director & Chief Architect is responsible for leading the enterprise architecture team in all domains including business, applications, integration, data, mobile, infrastructure and cloud services. The Chief Architect is also responsible for developing and overseeing the execution of the enterprise architecture strategic plan.
The Chief Architect leads the architecture function and defines the technology vision and roadmap used by internal and external stakeholders to meet Canadian Blood Services’ business goals. Cornerstones of the architecture strategy include design, execution and governance as it applies to the architecture and related processes. The Chief Architect works with other leaders on the execution of the technology roadmap to ensure the organization is well positioned for its long-term technology needs.

As an ideal candidate, you bring a post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a University Degree or equivalent. Canadian Blood Services will benefit from your 5+ years of proven experience in enterprise architecture gained in a multi-platform, multi-vendor enterprise system design and integration environment. You bring a minimum of three years leading teams and demonstrable experience working with ERP systems, databases, custom software development and business analytics. Highly valued for your ability to define business challenges and desired outcomes by leveraging architectural methodologies and standard design patterns, you have proven experience creating architectural artifacts that are clear, fit for purpose and effective. You are respected for your positivity, can-do attitude and ability to think strategically and execute tactically with excellence while managing conflicting priorities that require you to respond under pressure. You have a demonstrated expertise in developing and directing new programs guided by your strong financial analysis and project management skills (planning, implementation, change management).
