Canadian Blood Services is seeking an accomplished and collaborative financial leader to serve as its next Associate Director, Financial Reporting and Services (Associate Director) for a three-year term. Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting & Services, the Associate Director will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, transparency, and strategic stewardship of CBS’s financial reporting and advisory functions.
As a key member of the Finance and Corporate Services team, the Associate Director will lead financial reporting services operations. The successful candidate will provide strategic financial advisory services to boards, committees, and executive management, while ensuring accurate, complete, and compliant financial reporting.
This position will be responsible for leading and inspiring a team of finance professionals, fostering collaboration, development, and performance excellence. The Associate Director will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including the execution of the financial close, external and board committee reporting and external audits. The Associate Director will also direct accounting standards research and development of accounting positions, policies and procedures. The Associate Director will lead the accounts payable, receivable and inventory costing teams. The Associate Director will collaborate with the treasury and cash management teams to ensure investments, cash payments and receipts, and foreign currency transactions are appropriately integrated into financial reporting. Finally, the role will drive continuous improvement through the implementation of enhanced financial processes, systems, and internal controls.
As an ideal candidate, you bring a post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline, a CPA designation, and at least ten years of progressive experience in accounting, auditing, financial reporting, and financial controls, ideally within a large, complex, or regulated organization. You demonstrate deep expertise in GAAP, including Canadian NPO, ASPE, and IFRS frameworks, and ERP systems. Experience with pension, benefits, and captive insurance accounting will be considered an asset. You are a collaborative and forward-thinking leader who thrives on translating complex financial data into meaningful insights. With strong analytical acumen and exceptional communication skills, you guide decision-making, build trusted relationships, and contribute to CBS’s mission of delivering excellence in financial stewardship.
