Canadian Blood Services is seeking a strategic, operationally minded finance leader to serve as its Associate Director, Strategic Finance Partnering (Associate Director). Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, this newly created role will provide embedded finance leadership to some of the organization’s most complex, operationally critical and financially significant portfolios, including Donor Relations, Collections, Supply Chain, Digital Solutions and Technology, Medical Affairs, and Research and Innovation. At CBS, strategic finance partnering plays a central role in strengthening organizational decision-making by translating financial information into clear business insight, building financial acumen among leaders and teams, and equipping decision makers with practical tools, analysis, and advice to improve performance. The function also serves as a critical bridge between finance and operations, helping leaders better understand trade-offs, risks, opportunities, and the financial implications of strategic and operational choices.
The Associate Director will also lead, coach, and develop a small team of Strategic Finance Partners supporting key portfolios across the organization, including Supply Chain, Digital Solutions and Technology, Medical Affairs, and Research and Innovation. In doing so, the Associate Director will help set priorities, strengthen consistency in business partnering practices, provide guidance on complex stakeholder issues and strategic analyses, help strengthen financial capability outside of Finance, shape the design and adoption of decision-support tools that translate financial information into business insights, and serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to executive leaders and their teams.
As the ideal candidate, you bring extensive experience in financial planning and analysis within large, complex operational environments. You possess deep expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, pricing, business case development and performance analysis, paired with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts into practical and actionable insight. You are a highly collaborative relationship builder who thrives in matrixed organizations and can influence effectively across executive and operational teams. Experience supporting operationally intensive environments such as manufacturing, healthcare, supply chain, or commercial operations will be considered a strong asset.
You are equally comfortable coaching senior leaders, facilitating cross-functional alignment, and mentoring finance professionals. Your leadership style is thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded in accountability, continuous improvement, and partnership. With strong communication and storytelling skills, you can connect financial insights to operational realities in a way that drives action and improves performance. The successful candidate will help leaders think more strategically and financially by coaching decision makers, simplifying complex analysis, and embedding stronger financial thinking across the organization Finally, you are energized by building new capabilities, elevating organizational financial acumen, and contributing to an organization with a meaningful national mandate.
