About The Role:
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a regular full-time Associate Director, Strategy and Integration to join our dynamic Quality & Regulatory Affairs division.
The Associate Director (AD), Strategy and Integration, serves as a key member of the senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Vice President, Quality and Regulatory Affairs (QRA). This role is responsible for driving divisional excellence by leading a multidisciplinary team of subject matter experts and project management professionals. In close collaboration with national senior leadership, the AD oversees the comprehensive divisional project portfolio and spearheads the execution of strategic initiatives that align with the VP’s organizational mandates.
Formula for success:
- Serves as a high-level strategic architect who translates corporate vision into actionable divisional portfolios, providing executive-level advisory and rigorous governance to ensure the successful execution of Quality and Regulatory Affairs initiatives on a national scale.
- Drives divisional performance and strategic agility by overseeing the QRA portfolio reporting lifecycle, engineering business cases to resolve execution gaps, and representing the VP in executive forums to ensure seamless cross-functional integration.
- Serves as the lead strategic architect for the QRA division by engineering multi-year business strategies, facilitating executive alignment workshops, and designing rigorous performance frameworks to ensure long-term objectives are realized through effective change management.
- Serves as the strategic engine for the Quality and Regulatory Affairs division by translating corporate vision into multi-year portfolios, providing executive-level advisory to the VP, and driving divisional performance through rigorous governance, proactive issue management, and cross-functional leadership.
- Orchestrates divisional excellence for the Quality and Regulatory Affairs division by translating corporate vision into multi-year strategic portfolios, providing high-level executive advisory to the VP, and leading high-performing teams to ensure rigorous strategy execution and resource optimization.
Desired education & skills:
- A university degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or equivalent, is required. A Master’s degree is an asset.
- Extensive leadership and management experience.
- At least 10 years’ experience working with multiple stakeholders and developing and fostering effective professional relationships.
- Significant experience in strategy development.
- Certification in strategy management is desirable.
- Experience in providing high-level written and oral presentations and reports to senior management, including experience working with senior-level audiences.
- Proven experience using facilitation, coordination and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated experience influencing senior leaders across various areas of responsibility to achieve a common goal.
- Highly motivated and self-managed with the ability to balance multiple priorities and multiple customer needs.
- Sharp planning and influencing skills in place of direct authority over decisions.
- Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to interpret information clearly and accurately to concisely communicate results and recommendations to stakeholders, senior management, and their teams.
- Competence and confidence to chair senior-level cross functional working groups as required, occasionally on behalf of the VP, QRA.
- Ability to conduct work with tact, discretion, professionalism, and diplomacy as information and issues are often confidential or sensitive.

- This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services' head office located at 1800 Alta Vista Dr, Ottawa ON, 40% of the time/2 days of the week.
- This role will require travel for events, team meetings and project commitments.
