Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role:
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-time Associate Director - Infrastructure & Facility Operations to join our dynamic Enterprise Facilities division. This is a critical leadership role that ensures the operational readiness and technological advancement of the infrastructure that supports our mission as Canada’s Biological Lifeline.
The Associate Director, Facility Infrastructure Management and Operations reports to the Director of Enterprise Facilities and is responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and administration of facility programs for all corporate-owned and leased properties. This role focuses on ensuring health, safety, and compliance while also driving continuous improvement and process management within the facilities teams. A key part of the job is managing staff, fostering a culture of accountability, and building strong relationships with both internal divisions and external partners to align facility services with overall business needs.
Formula for success:
- Strategic Planning and Lifecycle Management: Ability to develop and implement long-term plans for infrastructure, ensuring biological manufacturing operations are sustained and optimized.
- Team and Stakeholder Management: Proven experience in managing staff, contractors, and cross-functional teams while fostering strong, collaborative relationships with internal customers and external partners.
- Risk and Compliance Oversight: Expertise in monitoring infrastructure risks, managing property standards, and ensuring all facility operations comply with local, national, and international regulations.
- Operational and Project Management: Skilled in directing facility services such as cleaning, security, and emergency response, as well as leading special projects and managing the transition of new and departing sites.
- Financial and Asset Management: Proficient in managing budgets, evaluating investments for both owned and leased sites, and overseeing asset condition assessments and life cycle planning.
- Leadership and Training: Capability to champion a leadership culture, develop operational goals, and direct staff training and safety programs to meet business and regulatory standards.
Desired Education and Skills:
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Facility or Property Management, (or related field) from a recognized institution or demonstrated equivalent levels of education and experience.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in facility management, design, control and continuous improvement, with demonstrated experience in quality management.
- Certification in Facility management, Infrastructure Asset Management or Property Management is considered an asset and qualification to be achieved and maintained by the incumbent.
- Highly proficient with facility/property management administration and experience in asset management planning, reporting and analysis and strategy.
- Experience in health care, biotechnology, pharmaceutical or blood banking industry at the leadership level is considered an asset.
- Proven track record in managing complex multi-site portfolios is essential.
- Proven customer relationship and change management skills and ability to manage internal relationships is required.
