About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Business Systems Analyst III to join our dynamic Internal Customer Experience - Custom Productivity Solutions team.
The IT Internal Customer Experience team manages the delivery and operation of IT services related to employee experience and productivity, blood operations, data & analytics and optimization, making IT more effective, reliable and consistent.
In this role, reporting to the Manager, Custom Productivity Solutions, you will serve as the primary interface between internal business customers, the Custom Productivity Solutions team, and third-party vendors. You will lead the planning, development or acquisition, and implementation of business systems that support critical organizational needs.
Formula for success
- Applying your skills in building strong client relationships, you will develop joint strategic roadmaps and tactical plans in support of client business imperatives.
- Utilizing your skills in systems analysis, you will assess potential enhancements or upgrades to existing products and support the development of new products, including user story creation aligned to client requirements.
- Employing your skills in business system development, you will lead system development and enhancement activities in close partnership with clients, software development team members, and various IT and business groups, including developing system test cases and completing system validation activities.
- Demonstrating your skills in product and project management, you will manage end-to-end product development initiatives from discovery to deployment and end of life, while supervising, mentoring, and coaching junior and intermediate business systems analysts.
- Exercising your skills in process and quality improvement, you will coordinate the development and research of process, quality, and project standards, team practices, and industry developments to drive efficiency.
- Leveraging your skills in end-user support and analytics, you will provide technical support and trend analysis to identify, diagnose, and resolve product usability issues and respond to inquiries with recommended options.
Desired education and skills
- Post-secondary level education (e.g., college, technical institute, or university) in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably in Business, IT, Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a business systems analyst, IT project manager, systems analyst, software developer.
- Experience with business process development and workflow automation techniques. Strong problem analysis, planning, validation/testing (e.g., Micro Focus ALM) and organizational skills.
- Ability to conduct business professionally and develop strong working relationships with customers. Creative, positive, and self-motivated with excellent communication skills; ability to articulate user stories/incidents to IT subject matter experts for new and existing business systems.
- Strong documentation skills (e.g., use cases/stories, business requirements, project plans, training, user guides and support tickets).
- Ability to coach junior and intermediate business systems analysts and software developers on detailed assigned tasks.
- Experience with an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform e.g., OpenText, a Quality Management System (QMS) e.g., EtQ Reliance, Microsoft 365 (Power platform specifically) and cloud/virtual solutions would be an asset.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies and tools (eg., Atlassian) would be an asset.

What you can expect
- This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services office site at least 40% of the time/2 days of the week.
- You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.
- This role may require travel for team meetings, project work, and other work-related commitments.
