About the role


Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full-Time Digital Design Specialist to join our dynamic Marketing and Partnership Development team. The work of a Digital Design Specialist is integral to Canadian Blood Services’ role as Canada’s Lifeline. 


In this role, you will focus on designing and implementing solutions that support the overall marketing strategy, goals, and objectives of Canadian Blood Services for all divisions across the organization’s digital ecosystem.


You will be required to have demonstrable expertise in digital design, brand identity and guidelines, UX best practices, digital tool use and task/project management skills. You will be responsible to conceptualize, create and manage the completion of work with varying complexity in collaboration with other team members and stakeholders in the organization. You will have expertise in various systems for the creation of digital ads and web graphics, marketing collateral, event and engagement materials and infographics is a must.


Key responsibilities include:

Digital and Multi-Media Implementation: 

  • Develop graphical files for various digital initiatives (advertising, web, internal and public-facing screens, emails, etc.) 
  • Design and edit multimedia content such as live-action video and motion animations, HTML5-based ads, audio clips and closed captioning (.SRT), etc.
  • Create mock-ups based on project scope and requirements.
  • Effective use of various CMS systems, digital SaaS platforms, event management platforms and/or digital event systems to complete tasks for digital operations.
  • Oversee native local listing management and aggregated management platforms.
  • Execute and/or supervise project launches for various digital business initiatives.
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, and brand managers.

Visual Design and Management of Digital Assets:

  • Responsible for designing and/or acquiring, cataloguing, managing, and protecting the organization's digital assets (MAM/DAM).
  • Provide strategic advice to clients and stakeholders that meet organizational goals and brand expectations.


  • Coordinate tasks, projects, production, and general operations within areas of work (including related meetings, emails, etc.)
  • Maintain the efficiency of various digital platforms (internal & vendor/external)

Performs other related duties as required. 



  • Post-secondary education in Graphic Design or Marketing referred
  • At least 5 years of experience in digital media, application design, web design, marketing, or related design field(s).
  • Previous experience creating visual aspects of marketing materials, websites, and other media, including infographics.
  • Experienced in all aspects of creative project management from kick-off to completion.
  • Expert knowledge of setting up files for digital production and working with product vendors to ensure jobs are produced properly.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate with team members, including those who are unfamiliar with graphic design.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks while being flexible.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a dynamic team.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.


Demonstrated Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Skilled with Adobe Creative Suite software

·    Particularly with Photoshop, XD, Animate, Illustrator

·    Competency with Premiere Pro, After Effects InCopy also helpful

  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365 products
  • An aptitude to quickly deliver high quality products in an environment of ambiguity.
  • An eye for detail within design and writing to a professional level
