About the role

 

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a temporary full-time Epidemiologist  to join our Medical Affairs and Innovation Epidemiology & Surveillance team. The work of an Epidemiologist is integral to Canadian Blood Services role as Canada’s Lifeline. In this role you will participate in the planning and designing of epidemiologic evaluations, providing advice and be responsible for data collection and management to support research activities.  

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Plans and designs research projects.
  • Prepares and maintains standard research protocols.
  • Develops study materials (e.g. develop and test questionnaires).
  • Conducts statistical analysis and provides interpretation of epidemiologic studies.
  • Compiles information regarding new issues in transfusion epidemiology to support research and ongoing operations and to develop areas of research.
  • Prepares written reports and manuscripts.

 

Required Skills:

  • A PhD in Epidemiology or related field (eg Sociology, Biostatistics).
  • An acceptable record of publication in scientific journals.
  • Sound technical skills in statistical and epidemiological software, proficiency in SAS is preferred.
  • Must be an effective team player.
  • Strong time management skills are essential.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent writing skills are essential.
