The successful candidate will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Equipment Deployment Associate to join our dynamic Process Management, Donor Relations and Supply Chain team.


The Equipment Services Team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by ensuring all donation and production related equipment are functioning in proper order, meet all standards and regulations which enables Canadian Blood Services to provide quality Blood Products for Canadians. 


In this role, you will be responsible for both coordinating and performing equipment induction, pre-installations, installations, validations, and decommissioning activities as required, in a timely manner, to minimize the interruption of operations. As an Equipment Deployment Associate, you will provide turn-key solutions for supply chain operations teams that minimize downtime while enabling supply chain productivity and performance.  

 

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your experience and following qualification protocols you will administer onsite equipment related corporate change requests, including induction of new equipment into the corporate Continuous Maintenance Monitoring System, equipment set-up and configuration, complete installation/qualification actives, and the deployment and implementation of new equipment at site locations. 
  • Utilizing your organization and leadership skills you will lead the national spares inventory this includes managing surplus assets, assessing, and completing equipment requests with repurposed equipment when/where applicable and ensuring all equipment’s are validated and returned to appropriate equipment owners. 
  • Leveraging your technical knowledge, you will manage the disposition of equipment for repurpose, sale, donation, recycling, or disposal, this includes the requalification of repurposed equipment and/or coordinating equipment removal from sites.
  • Drawing on your project management and collaboration skills you will work with facilities, vendors, and Equipment Support Operation team to ensure all aspects of equipment installation, induction and deployment are at operational status in compliance with corporate policies and procedures and health and safety standards. 
  • Leveraging your continuous improvement mindset, you will support equipment engineers with new equipment assessments and process development. 
  • In addition, you will perform other related duties as required. 

 

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of post-secondary education from a recognized academic institution in a related discipline, preferably a University Degree in Engineering or Sciences, or an equivalent equipment related professional education. 
  • Previous experience in equipment engineering, validation, quality management systems, process design and control. 
  • Experience working in a pharmaceutical, medical device or biological manufacturing environment under GMP regulations is essential. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of Equipment Life-Cycle activities, and validation processes and principles.
  • Technical skills including installing manufacturing and laboratory equipment is considered an asset. 
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

  • Travel requirements - occasional local and national travel will be required for equipment services installations, maintenance and/or decommissioning of equipment at donor sites, mobile sites, and hospitals. 
  • Physical requirements - regular lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing of objects; frequent walking, standing, or sitting for prolonged periods with the occasional need for bending, stretching, and working in awkward positions.
