About The Role
In the role of Knowledge Broker, supporting our Innovation and Portfolio Management Team you will be responsible for developing relationships with strategic partners and collaborators to support the exchange of information and the identification of needs in order to facilitate evidence-informed practices and programs for those working in the fields of transfusion and transplantation.
In this role you will draw on existing evidence from research or other sources and work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders to provide tailored, evidence-informed guidance and practical tools to facilitate desired changes in practice, programs or policies.
Responsibilities include:
Leads the development of knowledge mobilization plans:
- Meets regularly with internal and external stakeholders to prioritize knowledge mobilization efforts and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
- Identifies and brings together key subject-matter experts, practitioners and other internal or external partners to share evidence, knowledge, and best practices.
- Leads consultations with stakeholders to identify their needs in accessing, interpreting and using evidence from research and other sources.
- Reviews evidence from internal and external publications and other resources to identify opportunities for knowledge mobilization.
- Evaluates knowledge mobilization plans to ensure that objectives and outcomes have been achieved and prepare reports.
Develops knowledge mobilization products, tools, and activities in support of knowledge mobilization plans implementation:
- Translates research evidence for key audiences and develops tailored knowledge products in appropriate formats that support the dissemination and uptake of knowledge.
- Facilitates the dissemination of knowledge products to appropriate audiences.
- Facilitates the organization and delivery of knowledge exchange events.
- Leverages existing Canadian Blood Services websites and social medial platforms to implement knowledge mobilization plans.
Education, Training, and Experience:
- Masters or doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., health sciences, adult education).
- Three to five years of knowledge mobilization experience (e.g., knowledge generation and synthesis; knowledge product development; knowledge translation, exchange, and dissemination; knowledge management; evaluation).
- Experience and/or expertise in the field of transfusion, cellular therapies or transplantation, considered an asset.
Demonstrated Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in English are essential; French are considered an asset.
- Ability to identify, interpret and adapt research-based and other evidence to shape decisions by various audiences.
- Understanding of knowledge mobilization methodologies.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, consultation, and related data collection through a variety of mechanisms (e.g., surveys, focus groups and social media).
- Experience in engaging diverse audiences and building relationships with partners from a variety of sectors to inform or implement effective practices, programs or policies.
- Experience in identifying, applying, and evaluating effective practices in knowledge mobilization (e.g., communications, education, training, resource development).
- Ability to develop or inform the development of knowledge mobilization products, such as toolkits, learning modules, education resources, lay and research publications and policy briefs, using feedback from knowledge users.
- Ability to develop understanding of system-wide issues.
- Experience in using IT to facilitate knowledge mobilization (e.g., websites, eLearning system, web-based collaborative platforms).
- Experience in adult education methodologies to facilitate knowledge mobilization.
- Enthusiastic and high-energy team player with a passion for engaging partners.
- Strong analytical skills; process and results oriented.
- Strong focus on critical thinking and strategic problem resolution.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
