Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working at our Ottawa site office - 1800 Alta Vista Drive, with a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Knowledge Mobilization Coordinator to join our dynamic Innovation & Portfolio Management team. 

 

The Innovation and Portfolio Management team is responsible for advancing transfusion and transplantation science and medicine by supporting a vast research and education network.

In this role, you will be an important part of the Knowledge Mobilization & Strategic Alliances team at Canadian Blood Services and will help carry out the team’s strategy for developing, publishing and disseminating educational resources to support best practices in transfusion medicine and cellular therapy. You will primarily be responsible for coordinating the development of a new course on the biomanufacturing of immunotherapies and its eventual administration. You will also organize and contribute to knowledge sharing activities and communications to multiple internal and external partners.  Additionally, you may assist with the development and dissemination of other educational resources to support best practices in transfusion medicine and cellular therapy.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your skills in instructional design and adult education methodologies, you will coordinate the development of a course and other educational resources in collaboration with subject matter experts and partners.
  •  Utilizing your strengths in knowledge mobilization and communication, you will coordinate the dissemination of the course and other educational rsources to target audiences.
  • Applying your analytical skills and attention to detail, you will assist with the collection and analysis of data to support the evaluation of the impact of the course and other educational resources as well as the success of dissemination pathways.
  • Drawing from your skills in project coordination and time management, you will coordinate the scheduling of meetings, action item tracking, project timeline tracking and update scheduling of course content and educational materials.
  • Using your creativity and visual communication abilities, you will assist with the development of visuals and other media to support learning objectives within the educational materials.
  • With your demonstrated expertise in cellular therapy and good manufacturing practice (GMP), you will partner with subject matter experts to maintain course materials.  

Desired education and skills

 

  • Completion of post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a university degree in science, health sciences or health promotion. 
  • Three or more years of experience with knowledge mobilization best practices and methodologies.
  • Three or more years of experience with adult education methodologies and instructional design.
  • Strong professional relationship building skills to interact with subject matter experts.
  • Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in preparing concise, clearly written scientific and medical content to different target audiences, including use of referencing software (e.g., Endnote).
  • Experience with developing visuals and other media for a scientific and/or medical audience and experience with Adobe Creative suite would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of cellular therapies and advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMP) is essential. Knowledge of transfusion medicine is an asset. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are essential. French skills would be considered an asset. 
  • Experience with Articulate is an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

What you can expect

 

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at our head office in Ottawa on 1800 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa, Ontario, 40% of the time/ 2 days of the week.
  • Travel within Canada for meetings or annual events may be required for this role on an as-needed basis.
  • You may be required to travel nationally once per year, or as required.
