Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services major site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Lead, Coaching and Mentoring to join our dynamic Learning and Development team in our Talent Strategy department.

 

The Learning and Development team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services to design and implement leadership and employee development strategies and programs to meet current and future organizational needs.  

 

In this role, you will lead the coaching, mentoring and assessments practice to create and evolve evidence-based programs that enhance leadership effectiveness and career development. You will design, implement and manage tailored and scalable coaching and mentoring programs, which support career and leadership development needs of employees and leaders across the organization. You will also provide one-on-one coaching to leaders, using psychometric and 360-degree feedback assessments, facilitate group coaching, help leaders develop coaching and mentoring skills, and play a key role in leading the internal coaches' network. In addition, you will lead the talent assessment practice in collaboration with Strategic Talent Partners. As part of the Learning and Development team, you will contribute to building a modern learning and development ecosystem to enhance employee experience, nurture potential and strengthen employee capabilities to prepare our workforce for current and future challenges.

 

Formula for success

  • Harnessing your passion for supporting the growth of others, you will conduct needs assessments to identify specific coaching and mentoring requirements across different segments of employees and leaders. 
  • Drawing on your experience in designing and creating impactful learning and development experiences, you will develop strategic coaching and mentoring programs, designed to accelerate growth, enhance leadership effectiveness and support career progression. 
  • Incorporating evidence-based coaching and mentoring best practices, you will center diversity, equity, and inclusion principles to expand access to development opportunities and career advancement.
  • Utilizing your strong customer service skills and knowledge of program evaluation methods, you will manage end-to-end implementation of coaching and mentoring programs in collaboration with other team members. You will also establish metrics and KPIs to assess the success and impact of coaching, mentoring, and supporting initiatives or programs. 
  • Applying your skills in deep listening skills, cultivating trust and facilitating client growth, you will engage in effective coaching conversations with leaders to guide them towards setting clear goals, deepening self-awareness and taking action to achieve desired behavioural changes. 
  • Leveraging your continuous growth mindset and ability to analyze data and draw meaningful insights for program improvement, you will act as a thought leader to recommend innovative solutions to scale coaching and mentoring, including use of AI and other technology, and continuously improve the practice to increase its impact and reach. 
  • Focusing on your in-depth knowledge of adult education principles and practices, you will design and deliver comprehensive development offerings for in-house coaches and mentors, equipping them with skills and tools to effectively support, guide, and contribute to employees’ career and leadership development. 
  • Harnessing your knowledge and demonstrated expertise, you will analyze and interpret assessments to support coaching, mentoring and leadership development programs. 
  • Concentrating on your ability to build and maintain strong partnerships, you will collaborate with and provide direction to vendors and external coaches to ensure services and programs meet organizational goals and expectations. 
  • Using your excellent facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills, you will support the organizational leadership community in developing their skills, abilities and behaviours in bringing a coaching mindset to their work. This may include facilitating virtual and on-site sessions and workshops to drive adoption and support leaders to build coaching skills. 
  • Performs other related duties as required. 

 

Desired education and skills

  • Accreditation from the International Coaching Federation (ICF), ACC or above, and completion of an ICF accredited education program. PCC (Professional Certified Coach) Designation considered an asset. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Development, Psychology, Education, HR, Organizational Development, or a related field; Master’s degree is an asset. 
  • Minimum 8 years progressive experience in learning and development, leadership development, talent management, change management, human resources, consulting or organizational development. 
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing coaching and mentoring programs and initiatives, with a focus on career and leadership development. 
  • Experience implementing or supporting talent assessment and succession planning programs. 
  • Expertise in selecting, administering and interpreting psychometric talent assessments. B-level certification in any of the following assessments is an asset: LEA (Leadership Effectiveness Analysis), SuccessFinder, The Leadership Circle, Clifton Strengths, EQ-I 2.0, Birkman, Hogan Leadership Forecast Suite, FIRO-B. 
  • In-depth knowledge of adult education principles and practices. 
  • Superior knowledge of science and practice of human and organizational behaviour, career and leadership development theories and practices. 
  • Strong understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and reconciliation efforts and their application in coaching and mentoring. 
  • Experience in designing and creating impactful learning and development experiences, including knowledge of program evaluation methods. 
  • Ability to analyze data and draw meaningful insights for program improvement. 
  • Any of the following are considered to be assets: 
    • CTDP or CTP certification. 
    • Certificate in Adult Learning. 
    • CHRP certification. 
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
