Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working at our Ottawa site office (1800 Alta Vista Drive) or Toronto (67 College Street) and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role 
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a regular full-time Manager, Content and Creative Studio to join our Integrated Marketing team in our Donor Engagement and Corporate Reputation division (DECR)


The Integrated Marketing team is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive, integrated marketing strategies aimed at building Canadian Blood Services’ brand, expanding our donor base, and enhancing donor loyalty.

 

Reporting to the Associate Director, Brand and Creative, the Manager, Content and Creative Studio will be a visionary leader responsible for developing and executing innovative content strategies and creative initiatives that drive brand awareness and increase participation in Canada’s Lifeline. This role requires a strong background in content writing and creation, brand development, and team management, with a forward-thinking approach to digital and social content. You will drive innovation, inspire creativity, and ensure the highest quality of output across all platforms.

 

Leveraging your creative vision, strategic thinking, and leadership skills, you will oversee a talented team of writers, content creators, designers, multimedia specialists, and strategists. You will guide them to produce impactful content that aligns with the organization’s brand strategy and business goals. Taking an informed and innovative approach to social content and digital marketing, you will understand platform nuances and create best-in-class outputs. Additionally, you will leverage modern tools, including AI and Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems, to optimize content quality and workflow efficiency. Your strategic leadership will encompass creative direction, content development and management, collaboration with cross-functional teams, budget and vendor management, and team mentorship. You will ensure alignment of content initiatives with overall brand strategy while fostering a collaborative and performance-driven work environment.

 

Formula for success

  • Utilizing your skills in strategic leadership, you will develop and implement a comprehensive, organizational content strategy that aligns with business goals and brand identity, leading the creation, curation, and management of engaging content to drive audience engagement and support marketing campaigns while ensuring timely delivery through an optimized content calendar.
  • Leveraging your expertise in creative direction and exceptionally strong content writing abilities, you will lead the creative development process for various content formats, including digital, print, video, and social media. Provide guidance and feedback to ensure creative outputs meet high standards of quality, effectiveness, and brand alignment.
  • Applying your skills in content management and technology integration, you will lead the selection, implementation, and management of content creation and management tools, including Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems, to optimize workflows and enhance content quality. You will drive innovation through the integration of AI tools while ensuring team proficiency and compliance with corporate policies.
  • Focusing on your collaboration and cross-functional interpersonal skills, you will work closely with teams including marketing, communication, and sales to understand their needs, integrate their objectives into content strategies, and facilitate effective communication and project management between departments.
  • Drawing from your background in budget and vendor management, you will develop and manage the budget for content and creative services, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while achieving desired outcomes, while seeking out strategic partners and external providers who complement the team’s offerings.
  • Harnessing your strong leadership skills, you will build, mentor, and manage a team of content creators, designers, multimedia specialists, and other creative professionals, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, creativity, and professional growth.

 

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of a University degree in business, marketing or communications, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • 7+ years of experience in content creation, marketing or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 5 years in a content and creative services team leadership role.
  • Agency experience considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in content management systems and tools (DAMs) and creative software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite). 
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with an ability to guide and lead a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with content and creative services planning and execution with a successful record of delivering effective, data informed solutions to drive marketing performance.
  • Proven track record of developing successful, insight driven and evidence-based content strategies and creative campaigns.
  • Superior project management skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously using internal and agency resources.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2 days of the week. 
  • You may be required to travel a couple of times per year within Ontario, and as required.
