Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site in Ottawa - 1800 Alta Vista Drive OR Toronto - 67 College Street and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a regular full-time Manager, Marketing Operations to join our dynamic Integrated Marketing team in our Donor Engagement and Corporate Reputation division. 

 

The Integrated Marketing team is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive, integrated marketing strategies aimed at building Canadian Blood Services’ brand, expanding our donor base, and enhancing donor loyalty.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating the engine that enables the integrated marketing team to drive results through the integration, management, adoption, and optimization of the right combination of tools, data, technologies, and applications. You will contribute to driving overall marketing efficiency and effectiveness; visibility into marketing performance by focusing on technologies, reporting and analytics; and instituting best-in-class operational processes. The role provides senior strategic counsel to the operational oversight of the marketing budget, including managing vendor and agency contracts and any service level agreement (SLA) management.

 

The role is multidisciplinary and an integral part of creating an integrated marketing center of excellence, with key areas of responsibility including:

 

  • Technology: Implement core technologies, applications and tools that enable the team to drive operational efficiencies; scale across geographies, products, programs, solutions or business units; and create repeatable, consistent practices and processes that drive efficiency in go-to-market (GTM) activities.
  • Data: Strategic contributor to efforts surrounding prospect data management, data integrity, lead generation scoring models and marketing optimization. 
  • Process: Collaborate across stakeholders to maintain alignment and visibility on all integrated marketing projects, programs, campaigns and lead and opportunity management that impact growth, acquisition and retention efforts. Manages processes for operational budget oversight to align expenses to marketing activities, as well as identifying and sourcing outside agencies and managing contract SLAs for agency/vendor relationships. Supports human resources process development to lead talent audits, capacity forecasting, martech learning and development opportunities across the integrated marketing team. 
  • Performance: Apply insights derived from the analytics and market research teams to improve program analysis, reporting and overall performance, ROI and business impact of all marketing activities. Provide visibility into asset utilization, including technology and content, to highlight unused assets needing optimization in order to improve ROI of marketing activities. 

 

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your demonstrated experience and expertise, you will be responsible for implementing technologies, tools and processes that drive marketing operations, including marketing automation technologies and data intelligence tools that drive efficiencies or enable scale. This includes improving the awareness of existing technology capabilities and driving team adoption of those tools. 
  • Utilizing your strong knowledge of marketing technology tools and reporting, you will report on baseline of metrics for the department and measure improvement as a result of efficiencies in process and adoption of tools over time. 
  • You will actively monitor operational best practices to ensure compliance with legal requirements and corporate guidelines. 
  • Using your ability implement, track and measure impacts, you will maintain the marketing database processes, lead flow processes, technology integrations and all related processes across the martech stack and infrastructure to ensure accurate and responsible data usage. 
  • You will manage processes and program specific dashboards across the integrated marketing team to enable visibility into campaign and channel performance and overall marketing impact and insight into integrated marketing’s contribution to overall business growth.  
  • You will collaborate with staff throughout the organization to manage the supporting processes surrounding marketing operations to deliver optimum performance and results, ensure alignment across functions and provide visibility into the impact these activities have toward the desired business outcomes. 
  • Harnessing your strong financial management skills, you will manage operational budget oversight for the department to align expenses to marketing activities. Report on budget metrics (operational martech utilization, program-to-people ratios, ROI) and advise on optimization of spend. 
  • Leveraging your exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, you will lead the planning for departmental communications, meetings and virtual and in-person connections to promote and foster a high degree of employee engagement and satisfaction. 
  • Applying your excellent customer service and communication skills, you will be responsible for managing external service providers, vendors, sub-contractors and suppliers as applicable. 
  • Performs other related duties as required. 

 

Desired education and skills

  • University degree in business, marketing or communications, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Financial management experience or certification.
  • Project management experience or certification.
  • Marketing-related certificates will be considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of marketing operations experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a marketing operations team leadership role.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location a minimum of 40% of the time/ 2 days of the week.
  • You may be required to travel quarterly within Ontario, and as required.
