About the Role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular, Full-time Manager, Operational Excellence to join our dynamic Quality and Regulatory Affairs team.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Quality Management System Services, the Manager, Operational Excellence is responsible for supporting the Quality and Regulatory Affairs teams, as well as members of other divisions at CBS, by empowering them to improve their processes and by building capabilities within our people and systems to surface and solve problems.
In this role, you will work closely with Quality and Regulatory Affairs teams, and Operational Excellence & Data Analytics group to implement continuous improvement principles in alignment with the CBS Operational Excellence program. You will also facilitate and lead process improvement and problem-solving initiatives; develop, present, and actively promote continuous improvement activities; lead efforts to improve efficiency and achieve strategic objectives, and provide reporting on continuous improvement activities and progress.
Formula for Success
- With strong collaboration and communication skills, you engage stakeholders across business units, regions and sites, to identify improvement opportunities, build consensus, support implementation of countermeasures, and drive measurable results.
- You lead and influence continuous improvement initiatives across multiple functions, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide operational strategies and priorities.
- By applying process improvement and Lean methodologies, you help analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies, standardize processes, and automate or simplify tasks.
- You deliver targeted workshops and coaching rooted in adult learning principles, enabling staff and leaders to sustain improvement and foster a culture of operational excellence.
- Leveraging your experience in data analytics, visualization and performance tracking, you support the development, maintenance and improvement of visual boards, dashboards and scorecards, to monitor performance and measure the effectiveness of problem-solving and improvement efforts.
- Championing project management and change management, you support cross-functional teams through transitions and adoption of new processes, technologies, and mindsets.
Desired Education and Skills
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or a closely related field is required.
- Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Project Management and Change Management.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment with at least 5 years leading change and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience implementing continuous improvement methods such as value stream maps, waste reduction, standardized work, one-piece flow, just-in-time, and 5S.
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory environment is considered an asset.
- Experience in requirements gathering, process analysis and process design.
- Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with excellent interpersonal abilities for leading workshops, training sessions and cross-functional meetings.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to manage tight timelines and meet deadlines.

- Travel requirement – occasional travel across CBS sites, 3-5 trips a year will be required.
