Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Manager, Planning, Performance, and Integration to join our dynamic Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation (OTDT) team in our Medical Affairs division.

 

The Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation team within Canadian Blood Services collaborates with partners and stakeholders (internal and external) to develop and strengthen the foundational elements that contribute to a high-performing organ and tissue donation and transplantation system. It also develops and operates a number of registries through which Canadian Blood Services’ supports the sharing of solid organs-for-transplant within and across provincial boundaries. Canadian Blood Service’s OTDT Program also acts as the Secretariat for the System Operators Advisory Committee, a critical committee in a governance structure that will oversee pan-Canadian collaboration in key national initiatives.

 

In this role, you will supervise a Coordinator role, create and manage projects teams, as required, and guide, lead, and mentor program managers, senior project managers, people managers, and individual contributors with respect to strategic planning, operational planning, reporting, evaluation, financial management, and the development of annual goals and long-term workplans. You will also support, plan and participate in senior level discussions and planning meetings and collaborate with all members of the OTDT program.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your exceptional organizational and advanced problem-solving skills, under the direction of the Associate Director, OTDT (Governance), you will manage and continuously improve all processes related to strategic planning, operational planning, reporting, evaluation, risk management, and the annual development of team goals.
  • Harnessing your strong attention to detail and excellent planning skills, under the direction of the Associate Director, OTDT (Governance), you will manage the development of contribution agreements, budgets, work plans, performance measures, and reporting for funding agencies.
  • Applying your strong communication skills, and demonstrated management and leadership experience, you will lead and facilitate integration activities within the program and with other Canadian Blood Services divisions in support of both integrated business planning processes and internal alignment, to ensure execution of key strategic and organizational priorities.
  • Drawing on your proven stakeholder relationship management skills, you will advise the Associate Director, OTDT (Governance) on planning, performance and integration, and support the senior leadership team, including issue identification, analyses and the development of recommendations on program management.
  • Utilizing your exceptional interpersonal and networking skills, you will support, plan and provide secretariat services for senior level planning meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as required 

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of a post-secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a university degree or community college diploma.
  • Minimum of seven to eight years of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing project teams is an asset.
  • Training in project management is an asset.
  • Experience managing direct reports is an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
