Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work to meet the needs of our organization. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. There will be a preference for the successful candidate to work out of our Ottawa (1800 Alta Vista Drive), Toronto (67 College Street) or Brampton (100 Parkshore Drive) site office.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Manager, Strategy Planning and Business Integration to join our dynamic Strategic Performance team in our Medical Affairs division.

 

The Strategic Performance team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services through the provision of strategic planning and integration services for the Medical Affairs division. The team works closely with the VP and other senior leadership to represent the division using a broad range of planning, performance and communication vehicles.

 

In this role, you will deliver a series of strategic planning and integration management activities for the Medical Affairs division.

Formula for success

  • Drawing on your demonstrated knowledge and expertise, you will support and guide leadership on strategy planning, execution, reporting, and risk management. 
  • Drawing on your strategy design experience, you will provide guidance to team members in the development of multi-year business strategies for Medical Affairs-led programs.
  • Focusing on your proven experience synthesizing complex information, you will analyze issues and opportunities, ensure varying opinions are included in assessments, prepare supporting documentation, such as white papers, environmental scans, proposals and business cases to outline options and recommendations.
  • Harnessing your exceptional problem-solving skills, you will identify risks and issues to execute strategy, work with the Medical Affairs leadership to resolve roadblocks and escalate to the Associate Director, Portfolio and Performance as required.
  • Applying your ability to lead and work collaboratively across diverse teams, you will maintain constructive relationships with assigned departments within the division to achieve results and with other divisions.
  • Concentrating on your prioritization and strong interpersonal skills, you will prepare project proposals and business cases.
  • Utilizing your proven capabilities in leading projects, you will lead key initiatives to ensure projects remain on track and focused on benefit realization.
  • Focusing on your exceptional coordination and time management skills, you will support in the preparation of required committee materials, e.g., briefing notes, presentation content, and follow-up on open action items.

Desired education and skills

  • University degree in a relevant discipline, preferably business, life sciences, engineering, from a recognized institution; a Master’s degree is an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management, portfolio management and change management processes. Project management certification is considered an asset.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience at the leadership level in the area of business management, planning, strategy formulation and execution.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communications skills, including presentation delivery.
  • Experience in a health care, or blood banking industry at the leadership level is considered an asset.
  • Specific experience in strategy and financial analysis is an asset.
  • Proven capabilities in leading projects.
  • Proven customer relationship management skills with a strong ability to manage internal relationships.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
