Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full-time Manager - CRM and Channel Management to join our dynamic Strategy, Planning and Integration team in Donor Engagement and Corporate Reputation division.


Our Strategy, Planning and Integration team is responsible for driving the donor base and integrated recruitment strategy and planning for the division.


The Manager - CRM and Channel Management is accountable for developing and deploying Canadian Blood Service’s lifecycle CRM strategy in support of achieving channel mix and preparedness objectives by product and in alignment with the overarching marketing strategy; developing and implementing targeted campaigns to increase collections and cross sell opportunities in an effort to support donor and registrant base health This includes the development, implementation and evaluation of CRM based criteria and attributes, contact preference management, donor value matrices and propensity models that improve appointment to collection ratio. 

Formula for success

  • Applying your expertise in strategic planning and collaborating effectively across departments, you will work collaboratively with departmental stakeholders to develop the lifecycle plan and product marketing projects  in support of national objectives.
  • Utilizing your knowledge of campaign development and evaluation, you will develop campaign guidelines and provide advice and develop and implement appropriate evaluation tools and methods.
  • Drawing on your proficiency in data segmentation and market analytics, you will leverage segmentation data to drive targeted marketing strategies for all recruitment campaigns, and in conjunction with the market research group, co-develop predictive models for recruitment to maximize the return from our marketing efforts.
  • Harnessing your skills in communication strategy, you will participate in the development and deployment of a contact strategy that optimizes the timing, frequency and sequencing of marketing and communication activity.
  • Building on your experience with CRM lifecycle marketing, you will build and execute targeted campaigns aligned with lifecycle requirements.
  • Demonstrating your capability in financial oversight and performance tracking, you will develop and manage a channel performance to ensure optimal ROI. 
    Leading with your strength in team management and operational oversight, you will, through managing a team of three seasoned professionals, ensure list generation, execution, and vendor management across all channels.


Desired education and skills

  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant quantitative discipline or relevant experience, preferably a diploma or degree in marketing, business administration or statistics. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Seven years of experience in marketing, market segmentation, business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, creativity and organizational skills.
  • Minimum five years experience working within CRM SAP.  Previous experience in Campaign Management module within CRM SAP an asset.
  • A minimum of five years of related experience including experience in lifecycle or CRM channel management.
  • Extensive, proficient and demonstrated working knowledge of excel, database management
  • Extensive experience manipulating and analysing large datasets and conducting statistical analyses.
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to conceptualize, analyse, simplify, and communicate data from complex sources, including the ability to produce clear and concise documents and reports.

What you can expect 

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2 days of the week. 
  • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.  
  • If you are located outside of Ottawa, you may be expected to travel to our office location in head office in Ottawa – 1800 Alta Vista Dr, Ottawa, Ontario, quarterly for in-person team meetings, and as required.
