About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Network Analyst III to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure Operations & Delivery team in Ottawa.

The IT Infrastructure Operations & Delivery team is responsible for the planning, delivery, operation, and support of Canadian Blood Services’ core network services. The team supports office, collection, laboratory, manufacturing, and data centre environments across the country, working with internal technology teams, business partners, telecommunications carriers, and service providers to deliver stable and secure network services.

In this senior technical role, you will support the deployment, maintenance, and operation of Canadian Blood Services’ enterprise network infrastructure, including switching, routing, wireless, firewalls, data centre networking, network monitoring, and related connectivity services.

The role has a strong operational and hands-on focus. You will coordinate and implement network changes, support physical infrastructure and carrier services, troubleshoot complex production issues, and help ensure that solutions are fully documented and transitioned into ongoing operations.

Formula for success

  • Applying your operational expertise, you will plan and implement production network changes, including validating prerequisites, coordinating resources, documenting implementation and backout procedures, and confirming successful service restoration.
  • Drawing on your experience with site and data centre operations, you will coordinate carrier installations, circuit changes, cabling, equipment installation and replacement, hardware lifecycle activities, connectivity validation, and technical escalations with vendors, field technicians, and local contacts.
  • Utilizing your knowledge of complex network environments, you will contribute to infrastructure standards, operational procedures, monitoring practices, and technical documentation, ensuring that new and changed services are supportable and transitioned effectively into operations.
  • Working collaboratively across Infrastructure, Security, Architecture, Project Delivery, and business teams, you will coordinate technical activities and communicate risks, requirements, and operational impacts.
  • Drawing on your senior technical expertise, you will serve as a technical leader within the team by mentoring analysts, sharing knowledge, promoting operational consistency, and providing guidance during complex troubleshooting, major incidents, and production change activities.
  • Applying sound judgment and accountability, you will participate in the after-hours on-call rotation and respond to incidents based on business impact, service criticality, and operational risk.

Desired education and skills

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a university degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience supporting complex enterprise network infrastructure, including at least three years in a senior third- or fourth-level technical support role.
