About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Payroll Analyst to join our dynamic Talent Programs team.
The Payroll Services team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by overseeing the payroll process and partnering with internal teams to enhance the employee experience and ensure everyone is paid accurately and on time.
In this role, you will play a lead role in the governance of the end-to-end payroll process for all CBS employees in accordance with CBS’ corporate People, Culture and Performance policies and programs. You will be responsible and accountable for all the financial functions and transactions relating to and resulting from the end-to-end payroll process. You will manage and project all cash activities related to the employee remuneration and CBS payment bank account, prepare, conduct, and analyze in depth time and pay audits on a daily and bi-weekly basis to prevent fraud or risk to CBS and or employees, and proactively plan corrective action when anomalies and errors are identified.
Formula for success
- Leveraging your excellent prioritization and organizational skills, you will plan, manage, and control payroll calendar year end process in conjunction with the Payroll Accounting Analysts.
- You will support transactional activity completed by end users, timekeepers, business partners, and EDA, MDA, MEDA, and my timesheet entries.
- Drawing on your effective communication and interpersonal skills, you will support all employees and end users across the country by providing advice, instruction, guidance, and coaching, while establishing strong working relationships, partnering with stakeholders and customers for continued success.
- Focusing on your continuous growth mindset, you will play a lead role in the development, review and update of policies and procedures relating to CBS Payroll ensuring consistent and standard processes, security checks and payroll controls are adhered too, applying provincial and federal legislation compliance, Collective Agreements and Terms and Conditions of Employment against transactional and configuration builds in the system.
- Utilizing your strong analytical abilities and effective problem-solving skills, you will conduct in-depth daily analyses of payroll results to ensure system results are as expected in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment or Collective Agreement requirements.
- Using your knowledge and experience, you will provide subject matter expertise on all transactional activity completed in all Canadian Blood Services Centres by end users, Talent Management Business Partners, Human Resource Representatives, Scheduler/Timekeepers. Build strong relationships with these stakeholders by working to process all payments and analyze the data to ensure the integrity and accuracy of all employees and payroll financial information in the SAP HR/Payroll system.
- You will take an active role to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the HR/Payroll SAP ERP System.
- Concentrating on your excellent attention to detail and accuracy, you will manage and project all cash activities related to the employee remuneration and CBS payment bank account and protect the organization against possible fraud related to payroll.
- You will be responsible for the planning, management, and processing of the payroll year end.
- You will perform other related duties as required.
Desired education and skills
- Completion of a post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution.
- Experience in a highly unionized environment is required.
- Minimum of 3 years related experience with the Finance/Payroll/HR Modules of SAP system in a Human Resources, Payroll, Timekeeper, or Scheduler capacity.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in multi–Provincial Payroll Processing and Accounting.
- Must have or be working towards the Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification (PCP) or the Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) from the National Payroll Institution.
- Understanding and experience in the use of SAP (or equivalent ERP application) is a definite asset.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Power Point, Word and Excel).
- Solid understanding of Payroll regulations, Employment Labour Laws, Collective Agreements and Terms and Conditions of Employment.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
