Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full-time Project Management Lead - Quality Management System to join our dynamic Quality Management System (QMS) team.
The QMS team provides leadership in advancing and maturing our quality management system, enabling the organization through effective, efficient, and timely services as well as subject-matter expertise in quality and regulatory matters
In this role, you will report to the Associate Director, Quality Improvement and serve as the primary liaison between stakeholders, quality teams, and operational units to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with established quality standards. You will lead and manage quality improvement projects from initiation through completion, monitoring progress, preparing reports, and communicating updates to leadership and key stakeholders as required.
You will also support efficiency improvements within established QMS processes, leveraging your strong understanding of applicable Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) as defined by regulatory bodies. Your expertise in the theory and application of Design Control and Project Management Life Cycle will be critical to effectively integrating these principles within the Quality Management System.
Formula for success
- Leveraging your skills in project quality planning and execution, you will develop and maintain project Quality Plans and provide training and guidance to project teams on quality expectations (e.g., change management, quality event management, document management).
- Applying your skills in quality system integration and application, you will identify, integrate, and apply core quality elements such as design controls, process controls, cost of quality, and auditing.
- Serving as the primary quality point of contact for assigned projects, you will ensure resource needs and project quality requirements are met.
- Collaborating with project teams and cross-functional partners, you will ensure deliverables meet all defined quality and project requirements.
- Exercising autonomous decision-making on quality and compliance issues, you will influence and guide stakeholders toward risk-based, compliant solutions.
- Contributing to Q&RA divisional initiatives, you will foster continuous improvement across quality systems and processes.
- Supporting departmental priorities, you will perform other related duties as required.
Desired education and skills
- Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably in an Engineering, Science, Quality Management, or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience in quality systems, project management, or equivalent role in regulated industries (pharmaceutical, medical devices, biotechnology, healthcare, or equivalent).
- Experience as a project team member in a project management environment working with multiple areas of organization such as supply chain, quality, and other divisions.
- Experience and/or formal training in project management, Quality Systems, continuous improvement and design control.
- Experience and training in quality principles such as validation, change control, document control process, non-conformance preferably in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or medical devices and experience in blood bank industries is an asset.
- Strong ability to conceptualize, analyze, simplify, and communicate complex processes.
- Solid knowledge of Quality Management Systems and improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
- Effective under pressure with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong project management skills, including risk assessment and stakeholder communication.

What you can expect
- This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services office 40% of the time/2 days of the week. This requirement is subject to change based on operational needs.
- You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours a day.
- This role may require travel on a quarterly basis or as needed for in-person meetings and project commitments.
