Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full-Time Project Manager to join our Infrastructure Program within the Network and Collections Transformation team. The work of a Project Manager is integral to Canadian Blood Services role as Canada’s Lifeline.
In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, management, and implementation of projects within the Infrastructure Program. In close partnership with the Capital Planning and Development team you will coordinate, lead and manage the activities of the project team. Projects within the program aim to deliver new, operationally ready facilities with validated systems and equipment, and with the appropriate regulatory approvals and licenses in place. Projects also ensure that robust move and transition plans are in place and that operational teams are ready to transition to the new working environment.
Formula for Success
- Leveraging your project management experience, you will lead the development of project plans for complex, multi-year projects, working within the organization’s defined project management standards and quality system requirements for projects.
- Utilizing your collaboration, leadership and engagement skills, you will work with the project team in effectively accomplishing the goals and objectives of the project.
- Drawing on your project leadership experience, you will monitor and document the overall project plan and budget, ensuring the project meets timelines, targets and expectations based on the established parameters, providing regular project status updates to all key partners on behalf of the project team.
- Utilizing your communication, teamwork skills, and project experience, you will coordinate the activities of the project team, internal and external partners to develop the project plan, define deliverables, identify roles and responsibilities, establish timelines, training strategies, implementation and evaluation strategies, risk management, costs, transition, and close-out plans.
- Drawing on your decision-making and problem-solving expertise, you will make recommendations for review with leadership regarding project deliverables, costs, and timelines, which will impact other business areas.
- Using your risk management expertise, identify, monitor, and mitigate substantial risks, with implications beyond the project.
- Using your change management experience, collaborate with colleagues to navigate sensitive or complex stakeholder communications, remove barriers, and facilitate change management.
Desired Education & Skills
- Post-secondary level education, preferably a university degree in a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of related experience, including progressive project management experience and/or training preferred.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret business needs, communicate in clear and concise language and develop integrated, creative solutions.
- Highly developed team leadership and interpersonal skills are required. Proven ability to build and manage professional relationships.
- Knowledge of risk management concepts.
- Ability to deal with senior management and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel.
