About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Quality Assurance Associate (RFT) (QAA) to join our dynamic Quality Assurance - Digital Solutions and Technologies (DST) team.
The Quality Assurance team provides management with an independent assessment that the work within those environments is being performed as intended. Quality assurance undertakes activities such as document and record reviews and approvals, product release, process monitoring, and audits.
In this role, you will provide the organization assurance that we meet safety, quality, identity, purity, potency and accessibility requirements of our products and services. You will develop and maintain partnerships, understand the business needs and requirements, assist in identifying the quality needs and gaps, and provide subject matter expertise aimed at improving quality.
You will work closely with DST and business stakeholders: to support risk assessment for proposed changes to critical enterprise applications, to perform design reviews with technical experts to ensure alignment of safety critical data logic with application changes, and to support data validation activities to confirm accuracy of critical business intelligence (BI) reports.
As a member of the Quality team, you will ensure that the work performed is consistent with the overall strategic direction of the Quality & Regulatory Affairs division and the organization as a whole and is accomplished by working in collaboration with other members of the division and/or other internal stakeholders.
Formula for success
- Harnessing your technical experience, you will support reporting functions of QA and QMS applications.
- Drawing upon your support skills, you will monitor and support IT process and product quality to ensure a state of control and the compliance to requirements/specifications are maintained. You will also be responsible for ensuring IT system development and operational activities adhere to established quality processes and development methods.
- Using your strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, you will develop and maintain effective day‑to‑day working relationships. You will participate in local and corporate initiatives which may include cross-functional and cross divisional working groups or projects.
- Applying your analytical and problem‑solving skills, you will support continuous quality improvement by analyzing data, leading investigations and root cause analyses, and monitoring corrective actions to enhance products and services.
- Demonstrating your commitment to safety and compliance, you will perform all work in accordance with Canadian Blood Services’ Corporate Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
Desired education and skills
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution. A background in IT Business Analysis and Technology would be an asset.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in supporting the development lifecycle of digital solutions and technologies. Individuals with software quality assurance or quality control experience would be an asset.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on data manipulation, pivot tables, and report automation.
- Experience in IT Information Systems support software and Information Technology Infrastructure Library, Service Design.
- Experience in data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities would be an asset.
- Comprehensive analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills are required.
- Effective interpersonal skills along with proven ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion, coach and facilitate discussions that promote the Quality Management System.
- Demonstrated ability to think systemically and anticipate impact on people, systems and processes.
