Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full-Time SAP Business Systems Analyst I, Supply Chain Management to join our dynamic IT Internal Customer Experience team. 

The IT Internal Customer Experience team is responsible for ensuring a positive and seamless experience for internal users within Canadian Blood Services who interact with IT services and systems. 

In this role, you will be responsible for your respective SAP functional areas including Warehouse Management (WM), Sales and Distribution (SD), Inventory management (IM), and Procurement, ensuring appropriate levels of integration and information sharing between the team members in IT. You will also be responsible for supporting the use of SAP and its various platforms at Canadian Blood Services. This includes supporting SAP end users, using SAP information to conduct analysis, resolving end user issues, modifying existing SAP functionality and interfaces, and adding new capabilities. 


Formula for success

  • Using your knowledge of SAP and your expertise with Sales and Distribution and Logistics operations, collaborate and strategize with business stakeholders to evaluate user requirements and identify new capabilities and solutions.
  • By leveraging your understanding of SAP functionality and of IT system lifecycle management methodologies, you will design, configure, and test SAP products and other integrated business solutions, and contribute to the implementation, maintenance and end user support functions.
  • Through effective stakeholder engagement and collaboration, you will share your knowledge regarding the functionality, design and use of SAP and SAP products.  You will recommend opportunities for continuous improvement which will enhance business value.
  • Using your understanding of the Supply Chain operating environment, quality systems and the technologies in use, you will facilitate the onboarding of new business processes and will support end-user adoption activities.
  • With your effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, you will support both your IT team members and business partners in the effective investigation, analysis and resolution of technical issues and business problems.


Desired education and skills

  • Post- secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably with specialization in supply chain management, business analysis or business systems management.
  • Certification in SAP or a similar ERP with work experience in areas of supply chain management and logistics operations is desirable.  
  • 2 or more years of experience as a business systems analyst or super user in the functional areas of SAP ECC or S/4 HANA including Warehouse Management (WM), Sales and Distribution (SD), Inventory management (IM), and Procurement. 
  • Experience with Master Data as it pertains to Warehouse Management, Batch Management and Procurement would be beneficial. 
  • Experience with System Development Life Cycle and ITIL processes including change management is essential.
  • Other related business or IT experience, including experience with bar codes and bar code scanning technology and warehouse management technology would be an asset.

What you can expect 

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2 days of the week. 
  • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.  
  • If you are located outside of Ottawa, you may be expected to travel to our office location in Ottawa – 2540 Lancaster Rd, twice quarterly for in-person team meetings when required.
