About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Specialist, Digital Experience to join our dynamic Integrated Marketing team.

Reporting to the Manager, Digital Experience Delivery, the Specialist, Digital Experience helps make our donor-facing digital experiences clear, intuitive, accessible and grounded in user needs. Working primarily across blood.ca, campaign landing pages, email and other content-driven digital experiences, and contributing UX, content and accessibility expertise to booking, account, app and related digital initiatives, this role brings a strong content strategy, user experience and accessibility lens to the work we deliver.

This is not primarily a visual or UI design role. The Specialist looks at how an experience works for the person using it: how information is structured, whether content is clear and useful, where users encounter friction, whether experiences are accessible, and how effectively content and page-level experiences help users complete their tasks and move through a broader digital journey. You will translate those findings into practical recommendations, wireframes, content structures and experience improvements using established design system components and patterns.

Working with moderate autonomy, you will collaborate with Content, Design, Development, Analytics, Marketing and other partners to clarify requirements, identify UX and accessibility considerations, and recommend approaches that balance user needs, organizational objectives and platform constraints. While this role has a strong focus on UX, content design, and accessibility, it is also a hands-on digital delivery role. You will work within CMS-driven platforms, support quality assurance activities and collaborate with implementation partners to help move digital improvements from concept into production

Formula for success

  • You shape clear, user-centred digital experiences. You will apply content design, information architecture and UX principles to improve page structure, content hierarchy, navigation, calls to action and donor journeys across our digital ecosystem.

  • You champion accessibility. You embed accessibility into day-to-day digital work. You will apply WCAG and Canadian Blood Services accessibility standards, identify potential barriers and recommend practical remediation, working with specialized partners where deeper assessment is required.

  • You turn requirements into experience recommendations. You will work cross-functionally to understand user and business needs, clarify requirements and translate them into practical UX approaches, content structures, page flows, wireframes and recommendations within established platforms and design system frameworks.

  • You use Figma to communicate experience solutions. Working within established design system components and patterns, you will develop wireframes, layouts and content flows that help teams understand how an experience should work. You do not need to be a visual designer or a copywriter.

  • You help improve priority donor journeys. You improve content-driven donor experiences. You will review web pages, campaign and landing-page experiences, emails and other digital touchpoints to identify friction, usability issues and opportunities to improve clarity, accessibility and consistency. You may also contribute recommendations to broader product initiatives in collaboration with internal teams and specialized partners.

  • You use evidence to make experiences better. You will draw on available analytics, usability testing, A/B testing, user feedback, and other available insights to identify opportunities and make evidence-informed recommendations.

  • You provide a quality check for user experience. You will conduct UX, content and accessibility reviews, identify issues and work collaboratively with partners to recommend appropriate solutions before experiences reach donors.

  • You help make good practices repeatable. You will identify recurring UX, content, or accessibility challenges and contribute to reusable guidance, documentation, patterns and processes that strengthen quality and consistency across the Digital Experience team.

  • You bring your expertise into the room. You will clearly communicate UX, content and accessibility considerations to technical and non-technical partners, contributing recommendations and your own professional judgment.

  • You keep learning and sharing. You will stay current with evolving UX, accessibility and content design practices and share knowledge, insights and best practices with the broader Digital Experience team.
