The successful candidate will be working at our Ottawa (1800 Alta Vista Drive) or Toronto (67 College Street) site office and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Specialist, Multi-Media to join our dynamic Integrated Marketing team in our Donor Engagement and Corporate Reputation division.
The Integrated Marketing team is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive, integrated marketing strategies aimed at building Canadian Blood Services’ brand, expanding our donor base, and enhancing donor loyalty.
We’re looking for a high-impact Specialist, Multi-Media to join our in-house creative team and help bring bold, story-driven ideas to life. This role is ideal for a content creator who lives and breathes video and knows how to craft compelling narratives through visuals, motion and sound. From social reels and campaign assets to brand films and behind-the-scenes coverage, you’ll help shape how people see, feel and connect with our mission.
As our go-to expert for video production, post-production and photography, you’ll play a key role in executing our content strategy and elevating our visual storytelling across platforms. You’ll partner closely with the marketing and creative teams to produce multimedia content that drives engagement and deepens our impact. This is a hands-on, collaborative role that combines creative thinking with technical skill, and calls for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments where great ideas are welcomed, and initiative is celebrated.

Formula for success
- Plan, shoot, and edit high-quality video content across a range of formats (e.g. promotional videos, interviews, educational pieces and social reels).
- Collaborate with creative and marketing teams to develop storyboards and shot lists that align with content objectives.
- Lead all aspects of post-production from editing and color grading to sound mixing and motion graphics, ensuring brand consistency and quality.
- Manage production equipment (camera, lighting, audio, etc.) and ensure it is properly maintained, set-ready, and used in line with best practices.
- Capture compelling photography that highlights a diverse range of audiences and moments—both planned and candid—to visually tell the story of our mission and impact.
- Edit and retouch imagery for use across various channels, ensuring brand consistency and visual impact.
- Lead on-the-ground content capture for social channels, including behind-the-scenes, event coverage, and trend-driven content.
- Quickly turn around short-form video content that aligns with current platform trends and storytelling best practices.
- Partner with social and content teams to pitch and execute produce platform-specific content that is optimized for audience engagement.
- Stay up to date on social platform trends, formats and tools to ensure creative remains fresh and relevant.
- Experience managing and optimizing content across different platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn, with a deep understanding of audience behaviours and tone of voice per platform.
- Write clear, persuasive and brand-aligned copy to support social content across platforms.
- Take an on-camera role as needed in social videos—sharing brand stories, narrating behind-the-scenes content (voiceover), or participating in content in an authentic, engaging way.
- Coordinate production logistics including scheduling, location scouting, and talent direction.
- Maintain a well-organized digital asset library for video footage, b-roll, and content archives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, comms, and design to support a range of brand initiatives.
Desired education and skills
- Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution is essential, preferably in Film and Media Production, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or Marketing.
- 5 years’ experience in video and photo production, post-production, and content creation.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, and Lightroom.
- Deep understanding of video best practices for web and social media.
- Strong knowledge of non-linear video editing software and video production process.
- Effective use of DSLR cameras for photography and videography.
- Effective use of various lighting equipment and lighting setups for photography and video.
- Effective use of video production accessories including tripods, lens filters, gimbals etc.
- Strong knowledge of video producing, including script writing, storyboarding and directing.
- Strong knowledge of content requirements for a variety of social media and other prominent digital platforms.
- Ability to coach and mentor on-screen talent and conduct on-camera interviews with regard for organizational goals and priorities.
- Effective use of synchronous and non-synchronous audio recording and mixing equipment.
- Experience creating native content for social media platforms and adapting work across different formats and channels.
- Comfortable on camera, with a natural presence and ability to represent the brand in a relatable, engaging way.
- Strong eye for visual storytelling, detail, and composition.
- Animation or motion graphic design skills is an asset.
- Experience with live streaming setups or event content production is an asset.
- Background in social strategy or creative concepting is an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

- This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/ 2 days of the week.
- You may be required to travel a couple of times per year, and as required.
