Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role

The integrated Marketing team at Canadian Blood Services is seeking a Temporary full-time Specialist - Marketing to join our dynamic and purpose-driven group within the Donor Engagement and Corporate Reputation division.

The Specialist will play a key role supporting donor retention and recognition initiatives by developing and executing targeted marketing campaigns across the donor lifecycle.  You will work closely with lifecycle and cross-functional teams to enhance donor engagement, loyalty, and long-term retention.

Formula for success

 

  • Support the development and execution of retention and recognition strategies to strengthen and sustain a loyal donor base.
  • Gather and organize donor, audience, and engagement insights to inform retention, recognition, and loyalty initiatives.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in donor lifecycle, loyalty programs, and recognition strategies to enhance targeted engagement efforts.
  • Prepare strategic briefs and campaign plans that guide retention, recognition, and lifecycle marketing execution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., analytics, research, CRM, and planning) to ensure timely access to data, insights, and campaign inputs.
  • Lead the execution of retention and recognition marketing plans, including lifecycle campaigns such as onboarding, re-engagement, and milestone recognition.
  • Support the development and ongoing execution of loyalty and recognition programs across donor segments and channels.
  • Track, analyze, and report on campaign performance (e.g., retention, engagement, and conversion), contributing to optimization and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support the Marketing Manager with day-to-day program execution and operations.
  • Ensure all initiatives align with Canadian Blood Service’s purpose-driven brand and donor experience strategy.

Desired education and skills

 

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing or relevant experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in marketing strategy, campaign development, or integrated communications.
  • Strong understanding of customer/donor lifecycle marketing and segmentation.
  • Experience in marketing campaign execution, preferably retention, CRM, or lifecycle marketing.
  • Interest in loyalty programs, donor engagement, and digital marketing trends.
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, with a strong enthusiasm for contributing to a mission-driven organization.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Critical thinker and collaborative team player with strong data analysis skills, able to translate insights into actionable improvements.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a passion for delivering results.

What you can expect

 

  • This is a hybrid role, requiring onsite presence at a Canadian Blood Services location 2 days per week (40%).
  • Standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
  • If located outside Ottawa, you may be required to travel to our head office (1800 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa) quarterly for in-person team meetings.
