About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Transplant Services Representative to join our dynamic Medical Laboratory & Stem Cell Services team at 40 Concourse Gate, Ottawa, Ontario.
The Stem Cells team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by operating several programs that support better outocme for patients living with the many diseases and disorders that can be treated with stem cell transplants such as leukemia, aplastic anemia, and inherited immune and metabolic disorders.
In this role, you will provide confidential coordination and support to Canadian Blood Services Stem Cell Registry stakeholders (internal and external), including stem cell donors and patients, transplant centres (Canadian/International) and stem cell collections sites.
Formula for success
- Leveraging your attention to detail, accuracy, and prioritization skills, you will coordinate blood sample collection appointments for Canadian Blood Services Stem Cell Registry donors, including creating blood sample collection kits, troubleshooting donor blood collection, and shipping issues, and maintaining/updating database(s) and collection location spreadsheet(s).
- Drawing on your strong interpersonal skills, you will coordinate with Canadian Blood Services Stem Cell Registry donors when further testing is requested on behalf of Canadian and international patients.
- Utilizing your excellent organizational skills, you will coordinate completion of online health screening by potential donors and facilitate collection of buccal swab samples for further testing.
- Focusing on your excellent communication skills, you will manage Stem Cell Registry post-transplant and post-donation activities such as, responding to inquiries, requesting patient updates, and coordinating various forms of donor follow-up.
- You will be required to provide program support as required.
Desired education and skills
- Completion of post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, or Community College Diploma in Health Management/Public Administration, or equivalent; an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Minimum 1 to 3 years of related experience in a national services program that deals with complex customer communications/services to internal and external stakeholders (including international partners).
- Experience working in a registry environment and working remotely from immediate supervisor/manager and/or team members, stakeholders, and customers.
- Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and web browsers.

- Shift/hours - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a per week, 7.5 hours per day.
