Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Utilization Data, Manager, PPRP Formulary to join our dynamic Plasma Protein and Related Products Formulary Program team.
The Plasma Protein and Related Products (PPRP) Formulary Program team is responsible for leading Canadian Blood Services’ formulary management processes on behalf of the Provinces and Territories in order to meet patients’ needs.
The Utilization Data, Manager, PPRP Formulary is a key role within the PPRP portfolio that supports all facets associated with utilization including developing a fulsome data strategy, monitoring utilization practices, developing and maintaining utilization evaluation tools, assessing/reviewing outcomes of audits and trending any adverse reactions. The role involves complex cognitive functions performed within a multi-tasking framework to ensure that the formulary continues to provide effective, safe and reliable products which meet patients’ needs. Each of these segments contribute to Canadian Blood Services managing a quality program whereby decisions are evidence-based and supported by data.
Formula for success
- Leveraging your demonstrated knowledge and expertise, you will monitor PPRP utilization and practices – reporting on overall usage among patients; providing information on specific PPRP used within subgroups of patients; comparing utilization across sites and providing support for utilization activities at the hospital level.
- Focusing on your exceptional planning and organizational skills, you will support the development and maintenance of utilization evaluation tools - this includes developing and evaluating utilization databases and factors within the database, coordinating the maintenance of utilization databases, while ensuring data integrity.
- Harnessing your demonstrated knowledge and proven capabilities in leading initiatives, you will provide subject matter expertise for strategic projects supporting data collection, including analysis, recommendations, business case support and project management.
- Applying your proven customer/stakeholder relationship management skills, you will manage audits and complaints – collaborate with quality assurance (QA) in investigating complaints and conducting site audits as required.
- Utilizing your excellent coordination and problem-solving skills, you will monitor adverse reactions – collaborate with QA in compiling data on adverse reaction, consolidating information and identifying trends.
- Applying your strong knowledge of business processes, regulations and quality environment, you will review the use of targeted products for compliance with current pharmacoeconomic programs.
- Drawing on your proven ability to gather and interpret information from multiple sources to provide recommendations, you will monitor PPRP usage, identify target PPRPs for utilization evaluation and coordinate the collection and analysis of data for PPRP utilization evaluations.
- Using your excellent prioritization skills and attention to detail, you will assist in ensuring accurate documents are prepared for review by the PPRP Therapeutics Operational Committee.
- Leveraging your customer-focused with strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will represent the formulary program on internal and external committees involving data development and collection for PPRP.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Desired education and skills
- Completion of a University degree in pharmacy. PharmD and Certificate in pharmaco-epidemiology or master’s degree in epidemiology, business administration, public health, economics, health administration or other area of business strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of project management, portfolio management and change management processes. Project management certification is considered an asset.
- Seven to ten years of progressive experience in a clinical position, including the management of a formulary program: management, planning, strategy formulation and execution.
- A minimum of 5 years of health system pharmacist experience required.
- Licensed as a registered pharmacist.
- Experience in a clinical area (e.g., drug information, hematology, others).
- Experience in drug utilization evaluation and data development.
- Specific experience in strategy and financial analysis is an asset.
- Proven capabilities in leading initiatives.
- Proven customer/stakeholder relationship management skills with a strong ability to manage internal and external relationships.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
