About the role

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of assigned Centres and for controlling all collection activities and resources at those Centres. You will manage all Donor Centre staff and volunteers involved in permanent Centre events and support mobile events for NL , have full accountability for a group of assigned direct reports and attend Donor Centre events. 


  • Ensures optimal clinic flow, a high level of customer service and compliance with Canadian Blood Services policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety.  
  • Ensures staff perform duties in an effective, efficient and professional manner.
  • Staff recruitment, including interviewing and hiring.
  • All aspects of performance management including progressive discipline as required.
  • Ensures each Centre is planned, organized and managed to provide for safe, efficient and cost-effective blood collection.
  • Ensures the needs of the donor, volunteer and the public are met.
  • Provides timely communication to staff, prompt follow up for donor and staff concerns and responds to on site media inquiries. 




  • Post-secondary level education in relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution in a health sciences discipline.
  • Proven leadership ability is essential and a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a blood collection, regulatory and continuous quality improvement environments is an asset.
  • Experience in plateletpheresis and autologous programs would be considered an asset.


Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, in English are essential.
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills, the ability to take initiative.
  • The ability to build teams, a passion for achieving results and a commitment to customer service excellence are required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle for travel to clinic locations.
  • Must be available to travel around NL to support mobile clinics
  • Must be available to work variable shifts - days, evenings, and weekends.
