About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary part-time Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Donor Relations & Field Operations team.
The Donor Relations & Field Operations team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by connecting the sincere generosity of the donors and the heartfelt appreciation of recipients. In this role, the Registered Nurse is responsible for determining donor eligibility and accurately recording donor information and responding to a variety of donor, health care professionals, public inquiries and concerns with the appropriate information and/or referral to another Canadian Blood Services department/site in accordance with regulatory requirement.
Formula for success
- Leveraging your excellent customer service skills, you will communicate with internal and external customers, such as responding to customer inquiries and concerns in accordance with established processes, including both digital and voice communication.
- Utilizing your superior interpersonal and communication skills you will schedule appointments for eligible blood donors to meet collection requirements and ensure the safety of Canada's blood supply.
- Drawing on your knowledge or experience in assessments, you will utilize critical thinking skills to collect detailed information relating to medical conditions, medications, medical history, travel history and more to ensure a customer experience that is optimal.
- In a highly regulated environment, you will optimize on your nursing judgement to effectively ensure both donor and recipient safety.
Desired education and skills
- Graduate of a recognized Registered Nursing Program in Ontario.
- Active licensing with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
- Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience.
- Excellent technical skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Teams.
- Highly developed ability to multitask using multiple computer software and digital tools.
- Previous experience in a blood collection environment is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential, fluency in French is an asset.

- This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be on site, at 300 Elm St., Sudbury, ON 40% of the scheduled weekly shifts. Preference will be given to professionals around the Sudbury, ON region.
- 5 shifts bi-weekly, working days and evenings with rotational week-ends.
