About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Biomedical Technologist to join our dynamic Equipment & Automation team. 

 

The Equipment & Automation team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by providing technical support in various aspects of biomedical engineering. You will be responsible for providing support services on an ongoing basis for installations, validations, preventative maintenance, demand maintenance and repairs of the specified centre and/or national Equipment Services equipment.

Formula for success

  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance for Equipment Services equipment and Canadian Blood Services manufacturing equipment.
  • Travels to other Canadian Blood Services Sites to conduct maintenance and provide support.
  • Provides technical support and acts as a technical subject matter expert to the equipment owners.
  • Generates documentation ensuring adherence to Canadian Blood Services corporate standards and applicable regulations.
  • Under the direction of the regional supervisor is responsible for technical writing related to the equipment services program.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Desired education and skills

  • Post-secondary level diploma in an electronics discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferable Biomedical technologist/Clinical Engineering technology.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience with preference given to those in healthcare or laboratory fields.
  • Must have some knowledge/experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), example maintenance and service software.
  • An acquired knowledge of the operations of a health-related organization and/or regulated environment.
  • Experience with documentation of equipment service records in a highly regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Well-developed instructor skills to be used in a mentor/trainer role is an asset.

What you can expect

 

  • Monday - Friday 000 - 1600. Rest days: Saturday/Sunday.
  • Travel is required areas but not limited to Kelowna, Abbotsford and Vancouver Island etc. 
  • [Physical requirements - must be able to push/pull, lift, bend, stoop, and crouch.


This position must meet the Trustworthiness and Reliability Verification requirements of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission and is subject to criminal records and employment verification checks.
