About this role:


In this role, you will be working on assisting in the collection of blood and blood products, responding to external requests for information as required and other research related duties.


Key responsibilities include:
• Assesses donor eligibility in accordance with the modified Donor Selection Criteria Manual (DSCM) for research donors
• Instructs and counsels donors as required
• Performs venipuncture and all other aspects of the whole blood and apheresis donation process in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/work instructions
• Completes relevant computer databases for study participation, donor records, research projects, trials and evaluations
• Assists in the organization and maintenance of the research clinic’s operations
• Establishes and maintains excellent public relations with research donors


Qualifications and required skills:


• A college diploma or university degree in Nursing is required
• Experience and training using the Caridian Trima Accel and Haemonetics MCS+ collection devices is preferred, but not required
• Previous experience within a research setting would be an asset
• Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the College of Nurses of British Columbia is mandatory 
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and electronic) are essential, as is a demonstrated ability to establish priorities and to organize workload
