About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular part-time Donor Centre Representative - Float to join our dynamic Collections team in our BC-Vancouver-Oak St, BC-North Surrey Donor Centre, BC-Vancouver-Downtown donor centre. 

 

The Collections team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by collecting donor blood and blood products in a safe manner to provide patients with lifesaving products every day. In this role, you will be providing excellent customer service by greeting donors, confirming and rebooking appointments, and responding to questions.

  • Work collaboratively in a diverse team setting, using your flexibility and interpersonal skills to ensure smooth and successful donor centre events.
  • Keep operations running seamlessly by preparing workstations, setting up computers and printers, printing schedules, and updating the online booking system as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement by sharing your knowledge and supporting best practices that enhance processes and elevate the donor experience.
  • At mobile events within our communities, you will assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment to ensure donor clinics are properly set up for us].

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of high school.
  • One year of experience in a hospitality or customer service-oriented environment or previous experience working with volunteers would be considered an asset.
  • Technical skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and the ability to learn new systems and programs. 
  • Minimum of 35 wpm typing speed.

What you can expect

  • Shifts/hours will vary. You must be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts which are based on operational needs; length of shifts varies according to the event which takes place at Canadian Blood Services fixed and mobile donor centers. Shifts include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays. 
  • This is a Float position works Wednesday through Saturday. Rest days will be Sunday and Monday. May be scheduled to work at the following clinic locations, 888 Dunsmuir Street, 4750 Oak Street, 15285 101 Avenue Surrey. and Vancouver/Surrey Mobile locations. Possible hours Wednesday: 0745-1545, 1045-1845; Thursday hours: 0745-1545, 1045-1845, Friday: 0745-1545, 1145-1945; Saturday:  0745-1545, 0945-1745. Vancouver Mobile locations will muster out of 4750 Oak Street, Vancouver. Surrey Mobiles will muster out of 15285 101 Avenue, Surrey. Schedule will be provided 6 weeks in advance, but may change as per operational requirement as per collective agreement guidelines.
  • Travel will be required for mobile events in our communities, and transportation will be provided by Canadian Blood Services.
  • Moderate physical demands - physical requirements for the role include the ability to assist with event set-up.
