About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a temporary, full-time, Senior Project Manager to join our Supply Chain division.  The work of a Senior Project Manager is integral to Canadian Blood Services’ role as Canada’s Biological Lifeline.

In this role, you will leverage project management expertise to oversee the construction of our new Vancouver Operations Centre, utilizing the owner-developer model to seamlessly bridge the gap between high-level strategic intent and technical site-level execution.

You will lead the delivery of this large-scale greenfield industrial build by championing strict financial stewardship—maintaining budget variances within a +/- 5% threshold through Pro Forma modeling and CapEx tracking—while navigating complex structural, mechanical, and electrical requirements. As the strategic anchor on-site, you will synthesize raw data into actionable insights, ensuring this critical infrastructure project is delivered on schedule, within scope, and aligned with industry-leading standards.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your project management experience, you will lead or participate in the development of project business case(s) for complex, multi-year project(s).
  • Utilizing your collaboration skills, you will work with the project team and steering committee to leverage your leadership and engagement skills to oversee and support project team members in staying engaged with the plan and effectively accomplishing the goals and objectives of the project.
  • Drawing on your project leadership experience, you will monitor and document the overall project plan and budget, ensuring the project meets timelines, targets and expectations based on the established parameters, providing regular project status updates to all key partners on behalf of the project team.
  • Utilizing your communication, teamwork skills, and project experience, you will coordinate the activities of the project team, steering committee, internal and external partners to develop the project plan, define deliverables, identify roles and responsibilities, establish timelines and communications, training strategies, implementation and evaluation strategies, risk management, costs, transition, and close-out plans.
  • Drawing on your decision-making expertise, you will make decisions that impact project deliverables, costs, and timelines, which will impact other business areas.
  • Using your risk management expertise, identify, monitor, and mitigate substantial risks, with implications beyond the project.

Desired Education & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
  • 10+ years of progressive project management experience, specifically focused on large-scale greenfield industrial builds, high-tech warehousing, or cold chain infrastructure.
  • Proven experience navigating diverse delivery models, with specific expertise in Owner-Developer relationships within the industrial, energy, or healthcare infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environments is considered an asset. Ability to bridge the gap between high-level strategic intent and technical site-level execution.
  • Strong experience in Pro Forma modeling and capital expenditure tracking. Accountable for managing budget variances within a strict +/- 5% threshold.
  • Certification in Project Management, such as the PRINCE2, Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Project for complex scheduling.
  • Expert ability to read and interpret complex structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.

  • Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret business needs, and develop integrated, innovative solutions.
  • Ability to create a cross-functional team environment that promotes high performance.
