The successful candidate will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 80% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Supervisor, Training to join our dynamic Collections Operations West team. 

 

The collections division consolidates the oversight of collections and donor centre operations for whole blood and plasma. It has a mandate to create and operate a single, integrated collections network designed to collect the best product from the optimal donor or registrant — at the ideal place and time — to deliver the best possible care to patients in need.

 

The Collections Operations West team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by ensuring effective and efficient delivery of training.      

Formula for success

  • Drawing on your knowledge and experience in developing and implementing standard processes.
  • Directs and oversees the Trainers to ensure an effective and efficient team providing a high level of customer services and compliance with Canadian Blood Services standard policies and procedures.
  • Utilizing your superior interpersonal and communication skills to ensure a positive working environment to which staff feel empowered, challenged and engaged.
  • Performance management, up to and including discipline and hiring/termination of employees.
  • Drawing on your knowledge and experience in reviewing training status, GMP issues, non-conformance reports and recommends appropriate action to the Resource Manager.
  • Oversees the implementation of new projects and processes.

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of a post secondary level education.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Team building including constructive conflict resolution and coaching.
  • Computer literacy, including spreadsheet development.
  • Experience leading unionized employees and managing within Collective Agreements.
