Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Community Development Manager to join our dynamic Donor Relations & Collections ONN team. 

 

The Donor Relations & Collections ONN team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by generating and identify leads, building a pipeline of potential donors, building relationships, and ensuring the growth and maintenance of a high-quality and committed donor base. In this role, you will be responsible for community engagement and maintaining a good public image for the donation centres to ensure there is ongoing public support. 

Formula for success

  • Drawing on your planning and communication skills, you will organize and conduct information sessions/recruitment presentations to specific target groups, based on research into the community and its demographics. 

  • Levering your interpersonal skills and continuous improvement mindset, you will find and engage with new donors through referrals, networking, and prospecting; and seek ways to continuously improve donor experience as well as meet and surpass feedback goals with the donor centre leadership team. 

  • Using your networking and social media skills, you will work closely with the Regional Program Manager and Public Affairs team to implement recruitment strategies to support donor experience and retention. This includes supporting promotions, digital content, themes and campaigns while working closely with the Regional Program Manager and acting as a media spokesperson when required.  

  • With your ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships, you will work collaboratively with other leaders across the organization, and specifically with the Integrated Supply Chain within the Region. 

Desired education and skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in management sales, account management, or corporate development. A degree in marketing or business administration is preferred. 

  • A record of success closing opportunities and a strong desire to succeed. 

  • Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal skills and comfortable with public speaking to various sizes of audiences. 

  • Solid background in the successful management and delivery of multifaceted projects. 

  • Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license is required. 

  • Must be familiar with or located in Kitchener/Waterloo and surrounding areas.

  • Flexible work schedule is required as events occur during the day, in the evening, and on weekends, sometimes on short notice.   

  • Physical requirements - ability to lift weight up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs.), load/unload vehicle, set up venue, long periods of travelling and standing and/or sitting.
