About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Plasma Associate- Process Lead to join our dynamic Collections Operations East team in ON-Windsor

 

The Collections Operations East team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by collecting plasma in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role, you will be responsible for performing assigned duties associated with the plasma donation and production process as defined by standard operating procedures. In addition, you will facilitate, coordinate and support team members as required in order to maximize operational effectiveness and donor experience. In collaboration with the Team Lead / Plasma Nurse, the Plasma Associate / Process Lead will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of all training programs, maintaining and updating training records, skills assessment and mentoring staff in best practices for safe, efficient and effective customer service and operations. The Process Lead will also assist the Plasma Centre Manager with activities to ensure the operations running smoothly, as needed.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging adult learning principles to deliver training that meets the identified learning needs of both new hires and existing colleagues within the Centre.
  • Utilizing collaboration with the RN/Team Lead to maintain accurate and up-to-date training records and documentation, supporting operational requirements and audit readiness.
  • Drawing on clinical and procedural knowledge to provide guidance to staff—either independently or in partnership with the RN/Team Lead—to ensure effective, efficient, and safe process execution.
  • Fostering a supportive and empowering environment that promotes staff engagement, professional growth, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Engaging all plasma donors warmly and professionally throughout the donation process to ensure a positive donor experience.
  • Supporting donor recruitment and retention initiatives by actively participating in strategies aimed at growing and engaging the donor base.
  • Conducting confidential donor screenings and obtaining informed consent in alignment with established ethical and regulatory standards.
  • Performing venepuncture procedures competently and consistently, adhering to best practice guidelines and safety protocols.
  • Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for innovation and operational enhancement within the donation centre.

Desired education and skills

  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution preferably in science/health related field of study. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of three years of progressive experience working with the public, particularly in a high customer-focused environment.
  • Completion of a formal training program in phlebotomy.
  • A deep understanding of plasma operations processes, policies, procedural requirements and equipment.
  • Experience with current Good Manufacturing and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes and practices.
  • Demonstrates great ability to connect with clients and maintains a customize relationship with them.
  • Builds and fosters positive relationships with peers, manager and other plasma operations team members.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
  • Adaptable, flexible and comfortable with frequent changes.
  • Show demonstrated ability in continuous improvement practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team building and ability to collaborate in a multi- team setting.
  • Must be detail-oriented and capable of working in a highly regulated environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet demands of the job.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and multitask.
  • The ability to exercise judgment, tact, diplomacy and strict confidentiality are mandatory.
  • Fosters and promotes a positive public image.
  • Computer literacy required.
